FILE 702: What Okiya's Evil-looking Smile Means

Post by Conan 48:69 »

Okiya discovered Akai, but Akai didn't notice Okiya. After Okiya sees Akai, he smile evilly.
Spoiler:
Image
If Okiya is real Akai in disguise, he smiled is because he had found fake Akai. However Gin ordered Chianti to shoot "Akai", if "Akai" is BO member or Bourbon, Gin should know it.

Or the reason is because Okiya is in the department store under BO's command to find Akai, and Okiya finally discovered Akai, he thinks that Akai will be doomed after leaving department store.

Another question, if Okiya is interested for solving 13 Red T-Shirts, why he is not helping Conan to discuss about it. Did Okiya have any reason that he cannot be discovered by Conan in this department store.

The second theory of yours sounds something like what Gosho would want you to believe. Because, he gives off that suspicious looking smile behind "Akai".

My only guess for the next chapter would be that Chianti finds that "Akai", shoots, and Okiya would come running toward "Akai" knocking the person to the ground. I see that Okiya is in a good position for doing that.

I don't know what to feel, except that smile really seemed like it's saying "Found Ya" XDDD

To me, it says "oh god, look at that guy trying to act like me, he doesn't know how to do it at all... I would never wear a hat like that."

I think that Okiya Subaru-san is really "BOURBON"

(because of the Haibara's feeling)

At the bottom of this page is an exhaustive list of reasons why it is really really unlikely for Okiya to be Bourbon which addresses the question of why Haibara gets bad vibes from Okiya.

Who besides Okiya -- The blackmailer who isn't Okiya might have done it too.  :P I posted the solution to the code in another thread already, but I will copy it here. If you want to comment on the answer, put your response in a spoiler box so other people who want to solve it on their own won't be spoiled. (Note: despoilered for easier searching as this case has passed)
It's really quite obvious what the shirts are representing if you have seen it before. It's semaphore - japanese style. Basically you have two flags and you hold them in various positions to represent letters. Japanese has a few flag positions that Roman alphabet based semaphores don't so you know which one is being used. Here are the japanese semaphore positions: http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E6%89%8B%E6%97%97%E4%BF%A1%E5%8F%B7

I forgot they arranged the shirts right to left. So the message says ウメタノミタヨ (うめたのみたよ) which romanized becomes "umetanomitayo." I couldn't make much sense of that part though. Maybe it is an abbreviation or a name. Also the last part could be cut off if more shirts are coming.
I did some more looking and the first three kana are a word (verb?) for burial (埋める) the forth kana is "no" which is often used to indicate possessiveness. If I remember this correctly, in japanese, first word is the noun doing the possessing. while the second is the possessed down so perhaps "the burial's _____ "

Someone made a cute japanese semaphore flash so I thought I would share it: http://www.geocities.co.jp/MusicHall-Horn/9827/flash/tebata2.html

Did anyone else find Gin's "...What?" reaction to the news that a bomb squad and the riot police had entered the building hilarious? Maybe it's just the fact that Gin is confused I find funny.

So...

The sender of those shirts is
Spoiler:
the freckle-face girl, the cashier-chan. It seems liek she is scared from the bomber. This surprised me a little actually, I though this girl put teh bomb on the man with the bomb, since lipstick was found on his suit. Weird. I also thought that miss cashier and the man with bomb would work together.
Now I think that the man with the bomb is actually the bomber. He thought it would be an easy task to find to find the sender of the red clothes if he treathens his/her life. Surely no one wants to die because of sending stupid clothes. Thge man with teh bomb was interested in Mouri's conclusions from the begining, this interest is suspicious to me.

Let's go to teh wild theory's field: Vermouth gave that man the bomb, the lipstick came from her along with the bombs and the idea of finding out who threatens him. Then Vermouth lured Kogoro & co. to that department store. She was the mind behind the idea of the bombing (similar to the Halloween party case).

At this point I'm a bit stuck. i wouldn't be surprised if Vermouth would have written that note to Jodie, not Shuichi, since Vermouth didn't wanted to have FBI on the scene. Jodie is sort of a Vermouth-detector anyways and would ruin V's plans.

The one who lured the police there knew that Gin & co. would go to the department store to check out Shuichi that's why that person called there the police. Whether it was the real Akai or Vermouth, I'm not sure. It could be either.

Fake-Akai seems to be sort of an amateur on the last panels, so I doubt that he is vermouth. She is not a scardy cat. The same goes for Akai. The aim of fake-akai is still bothering me. I can't inderstand his aim. Fake-Akai showed himself to camel, I wonder if that was accidenmtal or not.

If anyone is being blackmailed, I think it is the person who was saved from the accident which would be Fukunishi-san. His picture is on the right in the newspaper. The motive for blackmail probably had something to do with the fact that the other man died - maybe Fukunishi cut a lifeline or triggered an avalanche on purpose?? The Fukunishi guy who received the shirts is almost certainly the department store bomber. Also, I noticed he has the same rather unique eyebrows as our man with bombs strapped to him. Coincidence?
That means freckles, the daughter of the dead guy, has a motive to send the shirts and a means as a cashier.
The question now is how to prove Fukunishi is the receiver of the shirts, bombed the department store, and as an added bonus how to prove he committed the crime on the mountain 10 years ago. I imagine that last one has to do with the shirt code I talk about above. The first two might have something to do with the red splotch on his shoulder.

I like your second theory I don't think Gosho has any intentions of making Okiya's true identity any more complex.

If he is the bomber he could have the detonator of the smoke-thing and the bombs, if the bombs are real.

Back to the Vermouth-theory, maybe last week's shirts were her works. She needed a scapegoat as in Hallo.P. . Vernmouth solved the case of the shirt-sender beforehand & then she lend help to the guy who was scared that his secret might be exposed.

Btw. the "umetanomitayo".. I don't speak any Japanese but if i rememeber correctly "mita yo" is something like "look ever here" or something with look. So the text could be something like "the "burial" was seen" or similar. Sorry if it is totaly wrong, but that message would actually be fitting.

Btw. it is funny how Kir mentioned Sherlock Holmes ( to me it is like Conan's synonyme :) ) and there was a SH reference in the actual case as well.

I don't think that's a valid reason to get suspicious, at least not in the Conan universe, since whenever there is a Conan episode or file, a crime is committed...

Rena: "You saw it with your own eyes."
Gin:  "It wasn't with my own eyes.  I saw it through a monitor"
... I couldn't stop LOL

Btw, Rena said "some sort of supernatural mind... like that of Sherlock Holmes", I think she's referring to Conan ;D

Because there is just soo much proof that Okiya is akai.
-

To end all the akai = vermouth theories.
Vermouth doesn`t have that much freedom. She has to at least contact Gin before fooling the whole BO into thinking that she`s Akai.

Gin`s reaction to killing the person (that is, or looks like akai) doesn`t seem like how he would act to a BO member.

As to the topic, I think that looks more like Okiya remembering a good joke.
as for the case
Spoiler:
it seems to be a revenge for a crime committed long ago.Could be that The Lady and the Girl who Dad was killed are one in the same.
If that is so, then there is a good chance she is both the "bomber" ( not sure if there are any REAL bombs ) and the person who send the shirts,  and ask to find the sender. She thinks that as they follow the "bread' crumbs they will learn the true about "accident" and get the killer. it is also likely she found the old killer and set this whole thing up to bring him to justice.
