I was just re-reading chapter 609 when I got this idea. I think I figured out part of the trick that was used to fake Akai's death.

My theory is that Akai had a body in his truck ready to make the switch and get away after faking his death. Who's body it is is obvious after you think think about the fingerprints on Conan's cel. It would have to be someone who is already dead and has touched Conan's phone, and that can only be Kusuda Rikumichi! If you think about it seems to fit, there's still many things that don't make sense, but that's how theories are.

A few more more things: This is probably nothing but on page 4 of chapter 609 Akai seems to fall facing to the side... http://www.dctp.ws/V59-Reader/File609-EN/A4.html. Then on page 5 he's facing up... http://www.dctp.ws/V59-Reader/File609-EN/A5.html.

Again probably nothing but on page 6 as you see his body burning you cant see his face, you can see up to the ears but his hat isn't there. It might just be a mistake(though I don't think Aoyama would let there be a mistake in such an important chapter) or it might even be intentional... http://www.dctp.ws/V59-Reader/File609-EN/A6.html

Like I said there's still too many things that don't make sense, like why he had his right hand in his right pocket the whole time(if I'm not mistaken, he is left handed...) or if that accident that was mentioned is related. Still lots of things left to be explained, and I'm hoping to know more in these next few chapter

On a side note... if I were to make an Akai Shuichi club, would anyone join?

It's slightly confusing to read (it reads from bottom up), but it's about the same thing you're hypothesizing.

I can't believe I missed that. I'm a little disappointed, I thought I had something new... But thinking about it now it's obvious a lot of people would come up with this same theory. It took me a lot longer to make this come up with theory though... I guess that since I finished reading the manga around the time Okiya showed up I was too focused on him. Seeing Okiya pretty much proved to me that Akai was alive, so instead of trying to prove that he was alive, I was trying to prove that he was Okiya.

but yeh Chek and Kyuu has literally all the arguements made in the previous 13 pages from both sides condensed into 1 or 2 posts
