File 690: Who will be the one hide under the table?

In File 690, when Conan going upstair to leave a message for Ran and Ai-chan going to washroom, there is someone coming in and Genta, Mitsuhiko and Ayumi look shocked.

Later on, after Conan comes back, Genta, Mitsuhiko and Ayumi look like hiding a secret and look confident. Look like someone hiding under the table, but who is it.

It shouldn't be Ran or Kogoro as there's no way Genta, Mitsuhiko and Ayumi shocked when seeing them, moreover Ran and Kogoro don't need to hide under the table in their home. If it is Kobayashi-sensei, Genta, Mitsuhiko and Ayumi shouldn't look confident.

The only possibility I could guess is Okiya since Genta, Mitsuhiko and Ayumi have witnessed Okiya's deduction skill and he had saved Ayumi before so there is a reason that Genta, Mitsuhiko and Ayumi trust Okiya. During Conan going upstair to leave a message for Ran and Ai-chan going to washroom, Okiya said something encourage Genta, Mitsuhiko and Ayumi.

If it is really Okiya hiding under the table, there is another question, and it is what is Okiya coming to Mouri Detective Agency for, he seems like coming without any appointment? Due to Okiya's deduction skill, he shouldn't have any request for Kogoro. Maybe he is coming to date Ran...just kidding ha ha.

If Okiya is Black Organisation member, maybe he is ordered to ambush Kogoro or Ran while Conan is out. Since File 700 is near and about to have BO related case.

Ran ? Yeah, the kids shouldn't be shocked if its her...

Yukiko ? seems unlikely to show up in the Mouri office.. But if this happened on Agasa house, i bet 100% it is her

Eri ? the kids didn't know her

Kazuha ? same as above

Heiji ? same as above

Jodie ? Yes, there is some possibilities, but the kid hardly know her

Sato ? Maybe, but why should she hide ?

Takagi ? same as satou

KID ? the kids hardly know him, with or without his disguise

Megure ? He wont fit under the table

Okiya ? Haibara would've feel something if he is near her

Agasa ? He won't fit under the table

Goro the Cat ? yeah, it seems possible why the kid shocked when seeing him, and he fits under the table

All the possible reasoning pointing at.... :::: Goro the cat !

So we need to find someone who :

-knows the DB and the DB know him/her well
-loves to play pranks =>that person hid under the table (or where) after all
-will probably play a big role in the upcoming case, not in the warehouse ghost thing
-has a reason to go to the detective agency

Goro: Nope. But it would be funny.

Yukiko: It is likely, but as others said she'd  rather be either at Agasa's or near Teitan school which Conan attends. What kind of reason would she find to take away Conan from the DA? I mean, okay, she could find a reason, she is a pro, but still... Oh, and don't forget that Okiya lives in Shinichi's house so she might feel uncomfortable and ask shin-chan what's going on.

Heiji: He is not really familiar with the kids, but has a reason to go to the DA, loves to play pranks, so other things fit for him. But... he is without Kazuha? Nah. But I haven't seen him for ages. For a year now.

Jodie: She'd rather call Conan then get near to him. We shouldn't forget that Bourbon is on the lose somewhere.

Okiya: Maybe he would go to the DA to ask Ran about Shinichi or talk to Conan, his alibi is taht he liuves at Shinichi's so... yeah. I1m not sure that he would hide though. But he knows the DB well.

KID: He was shown in this file, unfortunately I'm not familiar with the text yet, so I can't tell if he has anything important to do with this file. He can disguise himself as someone who the DB & kogoro know, he likes to play pranks and possible would like to contact to Conan... but he won't get involved in the main plot anyway, so he is out.

Yukiko, Okiya, or possibly Heiji?

All three seem to fit a few, but not all factors mentioned above and their appearance could lead to a BO case. remember Yukiko's role before and in Halloween party. remember Heiji's role in HP and before the BO ambush on the hospital. ASnd, needles to say, tehre is good old Okiya, who is a suspicious character. I really can't choose from them without a text. ^^"

I don't believe the kids know Eisuke very well. Besides, before he would've been able to hide himself he would've crashed into every little thing that was in the room. ^^

I rather believe it's Yukiko, because of her playful character, her good relationship with the kids and the fact that Okiya is holding the fort in Shinichi's house, which must've been a big "WTF"-moment for her. She probably just told the kid to remain silent about her to Conan.

Okiya ain't that playful, he's more mature, and he's more of a person to whom the kids look up to, he doesn't really belong to the DB "gang". If he wanted to question Ran, I think he would make sure Conan wouldn't be around.

Heji kind of admires Conan and sees him as a rival/companion, so he wouldn't play around with Conan and hide himself. I think he'd be more the type to barge in and come with a case, to test both Conan's and Heji's wits. Or he at least wouldn't hide himself until Conan is gone.

Eisuke or Heiji are also good guesses. We're well past due for a Heiji case and Eisuke's return would set up for an incoming clash arc. I suppose they both have enough of a goofy streak that would make hiding under the desk to surprise someone within their characters. Heiji and Eisuke might hide under a desk for some reason, but why given the current events? I can't think of any plausible reasons, unless it's part of Eisuke's CIA training. (not likely) Jodie also has a goofy streak too, but would she go so far as to hide under a table? I just don't see the serious Okiya being a possibility. *Cracks up at the mental image of Akai hiding under a desk*

I haven't seen the raw, but why does it have to be someone the shounen tantei know? It could also be the next client and the detective boys are smirking because hiding under a desk is funny. The client could be a kid after all (or a silly adult).

(Edit) Now that I have read cutepeipei's translation, I am definitely leaning towards Kobayashi being the desk lurker. In the meanwhile, Shiratori's stalking skills have leveled up since the last time we've seen him...

Well, as much as I really really do miss Eisuke and hope that it's him, it doesn't seem like something he would do.  He's enough of a ninja that Conan never notices him in a room until he announces his presence, so there's no reason to hide...

My money is on Yukiko... It's something she would do...

Or, Yukiko as Fumiyo (you know, "Conan's mom"... We saw her once...). Although the Shonen Tantei haven't met her, Conan might have a picture of her somewhere, which the kids might have seen. That would explain the shock... The download isn't working for me, so I don't really have anything I could add...

Few things....

1) You just eliminated the major characters as such your theory is flawed. There are many more minor characters it could be, and that would widen the possibilities far more than any of us could surmise on a simple forum in a reasonable amount of time. (I know it was a joke post but still...)

2) The way I see it, it is far more likely to be someone of close proximity to the kids. Are the police officers a possibility? Yes, but I doubt they would do something so childish, as it would demean them, and I don't think Gosho would do something so brazen. It would have to be someone that is both capable and able.

3) Isn't Eisuke supposed to be in America trying to become CIA? Also... he doesn't seem the type to hide under a table, far to accident prone anyway, he'd probably hit his head on the table alerting everyone to his presence before they would even have the chance to be surprised.

Those are my main 3 points... of the characters mentioned I think Kobayashi is the most likely... Yukiko would be damn sure to do something far more targeted than that... She doesn't care about the detective boys, she wants only her "shin-chan." And if yuusaku was at all involved... well then... The whole thing could be a ruse. Pay off the guy, a few people, get them to play along, and screw with their kid while testing his deductive ability. But again, its too untargeted, they would be sure to do it so that only shinichi would be involved, as they don't care about the d-boys.

Of all the characters possible, I highly doubt it's someone like Ran or Agasa, as their place in the story just doesn't seem to fit (and neither would Agasa). Saying it's Okiya... well, I won't say that it isn't a bit interesting of a theory, but... he just doesn't seem like the kind of person who would be childish enough to hide under the table... and (such as if he really is in the syndicate) if he wanted to spy, he wouldn't let the children know that he was there... and he wouldn't hide under the table!  though I suppose their reaction was fitting
I think that KID would be the type of person to hide under a desk, if just for the fun of it, but I imagine him pranking Hakuba or Nakamouri-keibu if anyone--and definitely not Conan. Not to mention, I don't think the kids would really hide him. If he were in disguise as someone they would hide, it would make sense, but that gives me the impression that he has an important reason to go to Tantei-kun, but if it were so important, he would be more likely to create a seemingly harmless mystery so as to not garner any unwanted outside attention; it'll seem like Tantei-kun is just playing "tantei" again.
Yukiko I can see hiding under a table or desk in Agasa's house, but I think she'd want to do something a little more sneaky if it was anywhere else, including at the Agency. Ran would do it if she was suspicious about something, especially if it involved Conan, but I think that if it were her, the kids would demand to know what was up and she'd have to manipulate the situation to not be discovered by someone else. I don't think she'd want to tip the kids off about anything, as it would be just as easy for Conan to manipulate the situation and convince them that he needs to know whatever they're hiding, and that's if he couldn't figure it all out himself.
I don't think that Shiratori would bother with hiding at all; he'd take a much more direct approach.
Alas, I can think of quite a few people who would hide like that--Takagi, Satou, Sensei, etc.--but they'd have to have real reasons for doing it, and I can't say I can come up with anything real definite. I think this entire thing will probably end up being a case outside the case, something that's basically ignored 'til after this whole room thing is solved, and it'll turn out to be something that has Conan and Ai making some ironic statements... though I wouldn't be adverse to some danger and action right now

My guess at the reason: she has always wanted to be a part of DB, and she was talking when the kids left, so maybe she went to find them and join their investigation. Being a Ranpo fan, she wouldn't want to miss this case

After I read File 691 RAW, this prediction is probably become reality soon, the one hides under the desk is really Okiya, because due to the case's history, the more alibi someone has, the more chance that that person is the "man".
