I am rereading the manga, and something I still do not understand. In the first two volumes it heavily implied it takes in the 90s before cell phones existed/ were no that common. Yet in the recent 20th anniversary file/case, with the flashback of Shinichi and Ran at the aquarium supposed to take place right before the Roller Coaster mystery. Now in the that case cell phones were the very thing that solved the case. At the end of the case Shinichi evens gives her a phone strap. So now what period are they in?

I think it updates technology and stuff along with real life. Really, I don't even think about the timeframe anymore. It makes less and less sense the more you think about it. :/

I feel like the comic book time trope gets brought up a lot. You'd think people would know about it by now :V
