Has the theory of akai = subaru been confirmed?

Post by The Immortal One »

I looked it up, but detective conan world wiki has different information depending on which page you go to. Some pages say it was confirmed, some say it's still a theory.

I mean I know it's completely obvious, but if it was confirmed, which episode/chapter was it in?

Edited the title of the thread so it won't be seen from the main page.

It depends if you take File 824 to be confirmation of not. Okiya had Akai's eyes, the scarless Akai was wearing Okiya's clothes, and Sera's hat was seen in her room when Okiya went in and scarless Akai was wearing it later. At the time, a lot of people did take this file as proof of O=A especially because the confirmation of Bourbon and Sera's identities came alongside of it.

I really don't know how I stand on DCWwiki saying it's confirmed. Should it be extremely proper and side with an abundance of caution or take the slight risk and point out the obvious? It's pretty darn clear clue and plot-wise, Gosho's interviews only hint further. (And then there is Movie 18...) On the other hand Okiya hasn't ripped off his wig and voice changer on panel so it isn't a rubbed-in-our-face solution yet. It sort of feels like how Kaitou Kid was never confirmed to be Hakuba in Movie 10, but it's so obvious that it should be pointed out somehow.

If I haven't read all the theories, I would said NO. Hell, I dont even notice Akai wears Subaru cloth or has Akai eyes, myself, but I vaguely remember I did edit the wiki to include that information, because people in cbox said so and I accept the fact.

To be more specific. I wrote " (Subaru) opens one of his eyes for the first time to reveal his Shuichi Akai-like eyes." Then a picture description next to that paragraph, edit by a different user, say "Subaru Okiya is revealed to be Shuichi Akai as he leaves the train".
What should I do? I didn't say he is Akai, but I am not going to argue he is not either.

It's not officially confirmed by Gosho or the manga, but it's as close as you can get really.

It's confirmed in that absurdly obvious sense that you mentioned, but as for directly... I would say no. It won't be officially "revealed" until (most likely) Conan or other major players speak to Okiya and Akai as one in the same.

I bet gosho was trolling... considering a certain Yukiko was with him.
At least, I'd laugh if he did, good old Gosho. Don't believe your eyes ;P

If Goshou is really trolling with us and Subaru ISN'T Akai, I'll be obliged to jump out the window that very second XD

I feel as though it's like Amuro with being Bourbon. I mean, when he was first introduced, you knew that Gosho was going to do something with him because of how detailed his character design was, and how he was trying to solve the case as well. And then at the end of the case, he comes to Kogorou asking him to if he can be his assistant. From that moment on, until the Mystery Train Arc, whenever he appeared it would be like 'okay, so this guy is Bourbon' and you (at least I did) would keep saying this each time he appears, until finally, Amuro reveals himself as Bourbon in which I was like "I freaking knew it." I feel like Gosho is doing the same thing with Okiya=Akai. When he first showed up and Conan let him stay at his house, everyone was like 'this guy is gonna be important'. And then Gosho drops more and more hints whenever he appeared that he was connected to Akai in some way. (Okay, not every appearance, but you guys get my drift.) And finally, at the end of the Mystery Train Arc, Okiya opens his eyes and it's 'BAM', even though it isn't officially revealed like Amuro introducing himself as Bourbon.

So, in conclusion, I would say yes, it is practically confirmed. And if it isn't, then you guys can call me a monkey's uncle. (Somewhat unrelated, I can't believe I'm typing this as I used to believe that Scar Akai was actually Akai. xD)

When I first saw Scar Akai it's like time stopped. Or I stopped breathing. I have no idea.
Then by the end of the Department Store bombing stuff, I got suspicious.
I soon got so suspicious I literally kept consoling myself that this couldn't be Akai.
By the time Bell Tree Express came about I was 99.99% sure.
And then... yeah. For a short moment I felt miserable. And then there was Subaru.

So now I am 0.00000000000001% away from being absolutely certain that Akai is Subaru in disguise.

Except for one thing...

In the Yuusaku's Cold Case, Sonoko noticed that Subaru always wears clothes that cover his neck. We assumed it would show that he had a mask on. But then Sera burst into the bathroom and Sonoko noticed...
THERE WAS NOTHING THERE.

Or was she just not looking hard enough? :P I hope that's true. Because then it'd be a harder mystery for everything piled up.

The loudest theory is that Subaru has a voice changer hidden there (mission impossible style). The comb he was using was perfectly ordinary, but since he wasn't wearing the voice changer at the time of the intrusion, he quickly stashed it and pretended to brush his teeth so that he would have an excuse to get away with grunting instead of speaking.

As for why he hid the comb instead of just setting down on the counter, it was probably first instinct to hide it because he was trying to be sneaky.

That's actually very logical! :o lol MISSION IMPOSSIBLE STYLE 8-) Because Subaru is boss that way

But still, that doesn't change the fact that there should be a sign of a mask somewhere there? ???

Why does Subaru need a mask? Isn't a wig, glasses, and high collar shirt to hide the voice changer enough?
