final case chapter:
Conan: "And the culprit should be right... here!"
Culprit: "...!"
Satou: "...dad?"
Conan: "Wait, what?"
Culprit: "Ohohoho, Takagi came to me asking for my blessing and I just wanted to see how much you really loved him before I did so."
Satou: "... :V"
Takagi: ";_;"
...That's terrible.
It is terrible ... TERRIBLY GOOD .. the ghost of Satou's father comes to test his daughter's suitor -- DC goes supernatural ( everyone remembers Satou's father died in the line of duty ... remember? ... her father's handcuffs ... )

Takagi just breaks my heart in this chapter.
Next chapter can't come soon enough.
I was confused by what you said but now that I have re-read it, I think so too. (I misread the notebook as a meeting between him and his parents at the airport at 7 pm but the notebook clearly says 07:00 am -- interestingly enough
there is NO entry about the meeting at the airport: Takagi wants to keep it a SECRET!).
So that leaves me with the following wild speculations & questions:
- Who was Takagi meeting at the airport?!
- Not his parents? ... maybe Satou's mother? -- which would explain the wedding ring he is carrying around)
- Remember the old man who handed the package, said specifically to hand it to Detective Takagi's lover, the senior detective (Sato). But, since he did say it so overtly, it's possible that it was a blind -- and the mention of Date-san's death might lead to a case similar to what happened with Satou's father ... an old grievance ...
- So the motive for this crime might be a grievance or jealousy (they are both 'popular' in the police department!) dealing with Takagi or Sato... or what I am leaning towards what will be the true motive: a grievance against the police in general (esp. against the mentor Date-san, so the criminal goes after his protege).
The placement of the cameras are a bit interesting: there are at least three cameras (the close up of his head and body is definitely at a different angle then the one from farther away from his side although along the same 'wall' probably, and of course there is the one above). We know Takagi can't speak to Miwako, but I don't for certain that Takagi can hear Miwako and the rest either.
Conan notices the 'wall' is formed by the draping of those blue sheets over the structure, so he says it is probably a construction site (so an easy job to find him?) ... but for some paranoid? reason I get the feeling Takagi is not in a remote construction site somewhere that is going to be hard to find ... and rather he is hidden somewhere in plain sight with lots of people. The original purpose of hangings were to punish criminals VERY publicly .. and I think the murderer intends to kill Takagi before the public to show how incompetent the police are ....
( I am getting inside the mind of the criminal too much!).
The
anachronism in this case is also interesting: An old man delivers a tablet computer, with a live video link of Takagi (presumably untraceable). Not that you can't be computer literate and old, but ... it seems more likely that if the old man wasn't wearing a disguise, then this problem is resolved if there is more than one criminal (maybe someone old and someone young)
I don't even care about the B.O. plot -- this case is going to be a really
~exciting~ !
HYPE
EDIT: I am going to "bet" that the package wrap that contained the tablet HAS useable prints and that they don't find a match. SCORE MINUS 1 for standard CSI techniques. Bring in
CONAN, THE UBERMENSCH and his trusty assistants, the DB and the entire police department.
