This interview caused a war between Ran's fanbase and Haibara's fanbase in my country. I hate how DC fans are doing there. I've given up at least 2 forums because of their bad-tempered nature.

(I'm going off topic, perhaps)

Looking over the interview, I can see that there isn't much mention of Ran, but I don't see anything that should cause a war. :/ I would've understood if there was something like 'Shinichi and Ran's relations may not progress as smoothly as you'd think! *laughs*' but there's nothing like that.

I feel for you, it must suck to have a war start for no reason. :I

i agree.. i didn't even really read through the full explanation for the latest case, just found it a bit too 'meh' and tedious, rather than the past tricks which were more ingenious. the way I see it there are 2 problems now: (1) we need more plot development, (2) we need more interesting/better-written cases. i dont necessarily need both elements to be present in each case, but if it's not going to be plot-related then i'd like it to be a bit creative at least. and if it means taking more time writing the chapters, then i don't particularly mind.

i can't sympathise with the anime fans who have to endure with (apparently) crappy AOs though, since i dont watch the anime. :p

Thank you, AICHAN. I feel really good to know that there are such smart and fair  Haibara's fans like you in the world. If Gosho knew what Haibara's fanbase was doing in my country, he would stab himself to death for sure (b/c Haibara fanbase in Vietnam = so-called anti-Ran an insult to Haibara which I can't understand, plus, I have never had such a thought!) , of inventing a "happy ending" and millions of odd accusations ... Imagine ... the "happy ending" irritated them just because they couldn't accept Shinichi and Ran (and I said nothing about the couple! Just translated what were already translated. They and their envy "deducted" that). First they sullied my post, second they shift to my private life - I feel really bad loosing my precious time with those people, really. They spammed and insulted me in purpose but the Admins there did nothing, just jumped in to delete my post ((which was their intention)) at the most final moment and didn't give any proper explanation . I gave up and left the site - I'm not satisfied with the way it worked. Those people are not true Haibara's fans, I decided.

I think that's enough of ranting - there is no need to go into detail, because as the smart person aboved stated, unnecessary wars are stupid. :)

Generally speaking, despite how badly Haibara fans in my country have been behaving, I won't change my attitude to Haibara as Gosho sensei's character (as a matter of fact, a lot of my friends admitted that the only thing Haibara's fans in Vietnam could do for Haibara was to turn more and more neutral DC fans into  to Haibara's haters - a great, positive and creative career, indeed, they're wonderful at quoting and splitting hairs).
The character herself is great and certainly  not guilty.

wow :o I'm shocked at the way they reacted... :-\

Unfortunately some fans can be stupid and intolerant for insulting people because of a fictional character...After all,Gosho is the only person who decides of the ending... ::)
Hopefully this forum doesn't have aggressive members^^ (well in the past it was more violent between Ai fan and Ran fans, but now it's quite calm)

Anyway,I'm very happy after reading the whole interview translated in DCW... :)
apparently Gosho said the confrontation between Sera and Ai will be "spectacular"...
and he compares Sera and Ai to wolves  ???I wonder why
I just hope Gosho will fulfill his promises... :-\

First thing that comes to mind is that both Akai and Okiya referred to the B.O. members as wolves. What do Ai and Sera have to do with that? Dunno. Ai was in the B.O., so you could make a theory based on that that Sera is also a B.O. member.
But I think Gosho simply meant that they have some.......wolf-like qualities........whatever that means.

If Gosho compared the two to cats, it would have been much cleaerer (though that would have raised a different line of questions)  :-X

I'm a Haibara fan too (eheh, who isn't?) and I have to say that kind of behavior is very degrading. It may be even be a vocal minority, but if they're vocal enough they can paint many Haibara fans - heck, even overall DC fans - as adamant, close-minded people that jump to conclusions. :I And with the 'translating to sully Haibara' I again still can't see how that could happen. Strange paths the minds of these people seem to take.

The worst part though is that they seemed to demonize you for no real reason. I mean, if I were AiCon or even anti-ShinRan (though I'm not much anti anything) I could see being disappointed by the inevitable...but I'd know it was the inevitable. Come on people. *sigh*

For me, I don't mind it when people rant...in a good way that is (which you have). Good basically = good grammar and lack of swears.

That last point is an excellent one too. Far too many times characters and even series have been dropped by fans because of other fans irritating people. It's good to know there'll still people out there that know it's not the fault of the work or the author that people blow things out of proportion. ;)

I also agree with several of the above posters, regarding what happened to Red.orchid. I too am a bit of a Haibara fan.

In some ways, it is almost as though they favor the character, Haibara Ai, for her potential in the plot (Or from what it seems, her possible relationship with Conan/Shinichi) as opposed to her character traits. (I am not meaning to make any conclusions or seem insulting through this. I do apologize if it seems that way.) It certainly is disappointing for them to insult you for being kind enough to translate.

The characters are owned by Gosho, regardless of however many possessive fans there may be out there. His word/pen is the law of the DC world. Since the start, and as of now, the likeliest person to end up in a relationship with Shinichi would be Ran. And while that piece of information is implied and supported by the story thus far, said 'happy end' seems to mainly imply that Shinichi will win against the Black Organization, instead of losing to them, resulting in death or other dire consequences. If I remember correctly, Gosho kept the interview relatively ambiguous?

I suppose that the conclusions drawn there could be resulted from the fact that the fanbase there seems to prefer romance to plot, but it's still hardly an excuse for that kind of behavior. It really is upsetting to find that the Admins support that behavior as well. It certainly would be a shame for people to come to dislike a character due to the behavior of that character's fanbase.

Compared to some other forum I was looking at, this one is much more civilised and knowledgeable XD I just hope they won't blame Gosho if he ends up with a ShinichixRan because it's quite obvious (though some wish the opposite). (ok... I'm going offtopic  :o )
