About the carpet being more worthy, how should the kidnappers know that? I mean all we know is that they saw the video with the vase, but they didn´t took the vase though it might be worth tons of yen.
In the vid the carpet wasn´t shown so the only explanation would be that they got the info from the flomarket, but that was years ago so unlikely. So i guess it must have to do with Haibara, most likely just kidnapping for money in which Okiya/Sera comes again to save the day. Oh wait that´s Conan´s role.

The most likely scenario is that they knocked Ayumi out in the same fashion as Agasa then wrapped her unconscious body in the rug to avoid attention as they moved her from the house to the car.

I am of the impression that they meant to take Ai, however there's more than one reason for that. Could be because they know of her real identity or it could be because they know her to be the pseudo-daughter of Agasa. If these people had something against Agasa or wanted something from him she'd be the best bet for a hostage

That could be so awkward....


It could still be a BO case... what if it's two newer members sent to get Ai, but the only thing they know about her is her clothes?  Then they could mistake Ayumi for Ai.

Or it could be FBI/CIA related, with a similar situation.  Of course, why they'd need to kidnap Ai, I have no idea.

As for the rug, it may be of greater value than the vase, as suggested.  I was assuming this much from Conan's reaction to Genta kicking the ball around the house, but it's more likely he was just telling Genta not to kick the ball around the house.
