Let me ask do you think its possible that Akai Double is Bourbon.

If "Akai double" is this guy ---> , yes most people who think Okiya is Akai think scar Akai is Bourbon. I've pretty much flogged the topic to death on page 18 or so the Bourbon thread.

If only Ai Haibara could meet this Scar Akai, as you said, maybe we could get a reaction to determine if he's BO member.

Sorry if this has been pointed out before, but...

Especially Conan's reaction to Ayumi's report of having seen Akai might strengthen the theory that Conan already knows Akai should be somewhere different - looking totally different =D Of course this is not proof, but might be some hint. He's looking rather like "How could that be possible" than like "My god, he isn't dead after all?"; so more shock than great - but not necessarily negative - surprise, if you ask me.

Oh, and Chekhov did mention the department store encounter between Jodie and Okiya. If Okiya is really Akai and supposing we can trust Jodie's hunch that Akai did indeed write the warning, it might also fit, seeing as Okiya was shown as being present prior to that.
(Although scar Akai could theoretically have written it as well, but even so, the scenario would also fit supposing Okiya = Akai)

edit: Oh God, if you actually read especially the department store case with that thought in mind, some things just jump at you; what I found very prominent was Kir talking to Gin about her killing Akai. If you read it while at the same time supposing Akai is alive, it seems almost like Kir's having an underlying mocking tone, knowing he's still alive - although we can't be sure Kir is actually in on the plan, if there was any.
But IF there was one, I think it's almost safe to assume Conan played a (major) part in it, which would again fit with Kir's reference to "a genius mind like Holmes'"

Kir would have had to be on it. He couldn't fit enough padding under a hat to block a real point blank bullet without that padding being noticeable. Also Kir was in on it from the psychological manipulation of Gin side: she manipulated her conversations with him to ask for things he won't agree to in order to make him think he was in control at all times. I haven't read through that, but did you expand on your theory after our insane is akai dead/alive debate? That is very interesting.

Btw, you could expand it to include a preprepared mags that had the first few bullets have no bullet only primer and propellant. If she knew what gun Gin uses it would be easy to prepare. Because we both know that blanks with a wad (to be required to make the bullet look real) can kill at point blank. But that would be tricky to pull off because there would be nothing  sealing the powder.

Quite a bit, including aspects of timing, preprep, and Kir's manipulation of Gin. Actually I did most of the updates about a year ago I think. I've also updated everything else (Boss, Gin, Vermouth, Itakura's program, Sera, Okiya, scar Akai, etc.) recently.

I did in the DCTP version. Akonyl told me about crimped blanks which have no wad, only the gunpowder and primer. I haven't done much more research on them, but apparently they eliminate a lot of the danger with high speed packing discharge.

I agree, this is what I thought to be the most probable course of events. Just didn't want to make it seem like a fact. =D

On a side note, concerning Okiya...

Any thoughts on his Coffee talk during the department store case? Only thing I can think of is hot => burning => scar of Scar Akai?

He's in a coffee shop so it's not likely to refer to anything else, But the keyword here is "bitter" coffee that show he has bitter feeling to them (no pun intended). And it does show he mocks them.

Wow, awesome work! I thought that Okiya could be Akai since he apeared in the story. I thought it was only my imagination, but I actually didn't realize how many proves were of it .
It would be great if Okiya is Akai, I really miss him
