Also, I hope to see some development in Ai's character around the BO appearance .

The real problem I have with Ai is that she's become so stagnant.  I mean, her role lately has been little more than a BO detection device, with the exception of the previous file where she saved the kids.  

And she's the only one who didn't start that way . But problem with that is your idea of giving her more to do... is death, where she can't do anything else? So her role is little more than that dead character?

I always thought the death of a main character would add something to the story,but in the case of Ai,I don't think it's a good idea...Indeed it would ruin the character development she had...she was trying to live normally and being happy,and then she would be killed by the BO?it's really unfair,and DC is all about justice so I don't think Gosho would do that.
Not to mention that Ai is the only one who can make a permanant antidote for Conan,so it's clear Gosho won't kill her.

But I think Ai being almost killed by the BO is a good way to make Conan realize how much they are dangerous.

She's less stactic than the main characters.
She basically gave us the confirmation that Okiya=Akai,and it's because of her that Bourbon and the BO are now making a move.If you kill her,I don't think Conan would meet the BO anymore.

Anyway it seems like she will have a very important role in this case...She will have to face a bunch of MIB who wants to kill her.It's a bigger role than any other female character.

Haibara dying (or anyone else in the 'main' cast for that matter) is a no-no for this manga anyway. The only characters allowed to die for real are one-time characters (Akemi, Tequila, Pisco, Calvados + all the victims of the day).
