What is the purpose behind the character Sera?

Hmm... Come to think of it. Sherry was born a BO member, and becoming a high ranking one during her teenage period. So if Sera is Bourbon or any other BO member, it won't be much of a shock, right ?

There is one thing that concerns me: Sera is flat. What does it even have to do with the plot ? I think Gosho purposely make her that way, so the other characters would see her as a boy (like Jodie), but what for ? Moreover, she always claim that her mother has big breasts, I don't know if it's biologically possible ?

By now I'm just hoping that Gosho will end this series as soon as possible.

Ok fine, there was that scene used to show respect to Shinichi's recent accomplishments without actually making it obvious to Conan or anyone that Eisuke knows who he is and much of the Hidemi mystery stemmed from that.

Sera being flat is probably to not repeat an (the?) arguable plot hole from the Vermouth is Araide disguise.

It's hard to say what her role is, but she immediately took to finding and making ways to be around Conan.....this would suggest that she may be with the B.O.....? Although I think she might be more on the side of good never know.....thinking back Shuichi Akai was shown thought of being with the B.O. by Conan and Ai for a while then revealed as a F.B.I. agent. Perhaps this is the same for Sera but, with a different law enforcement agency?

I don't think Sera is from BO... I don't wanna believe she's from the BO. She's related to Shuuichi, that's for sure. But if she's BO then... how? I think she just suspects of people but nothing else. She might be interested in hear of SHinichi 'cuz he disappeared (just like Eisuke did) not to mention that she's interested in Conan 'cuz she's a VERY smart child (and Conan has appared in newspapers since he always ruins my beloved Kid's tricks) and about Ran, well it's obviously.

I gotta say that slider has also good points... but I just hope that Sera is not from BO... or at least she is a NOC agent acting as BO... even if that it's more than impossible

ähm... concerning this Shiho was a codename agent in her teens... well she was in the research facilities of the BO, which is kinda easier to achieve with a gifted intellect than the outside jobs which would be what sera does... especially if you act on your own without other agents ... you need to have some sort of knowledge for these jobs, proven yourself worthy for these jobs, educational background(vodka is a good example for the lack of it) etc...

Shiho was BO agent's daughter. And she work in exactly her parent's project. It took quite a while for someone as talent as Akai to showoff himself and get in. Sera (if she Akai's sister and not related to BO at birth) would talk a little more time to join them.

After this last chapter, I actually think that James Black knows who she is.  I think the point of making her so flat was so James could slip up and mention that she's a girl.  Just guessing, though.

After read file 780 I can conclude that Sera is not from the BO, otherwise James Black would have said something or even before Sera appeared he would have talked with Shuuichi about it when Rena Misunashi left the hospital.

So I'm relieved!

Before I hypothesize, I would like to say that I haven't read the bulk of the manga, only really the beginning and the more recent files.
Does anyone know if there might be some remainder of the drug that 'Haibara' and 'Conan' took?
If so, Sera could be someone who has taken that drug and reverted to a teenage form, possibly because she was in her 30's or late 20's before so.
It's assuming a lot, but I think as smart as Sera seems to be she has to have at least some faint idea of the possibility of a youth drug in order to believe that Conan could be Shinichi. She talks a lot about how her boobs will grow out, maybe she already knows they will because they grew out in her later years before she took the drug .
Still, I don't know whether her knowing about the drug would mean she's BO or CIA, or maybe just another poor victim.
If the drug was destroyed somehow, please disregard my post @_@
