She doesn't have to know to be involved (ex : episode 345).

Thats a prime example of why putting Ran into the BO story would be a failWakarimashita wrote: She doesn't have to know to be involved (ex : episode 345).

She came out of no where..... she hide in the trunk? What the hell? Thats the stupidest way to get involved talk about forcing her to be. That could have been done so much better. Have Conan save her, Akai, Jodie! Maybe even Agasa but what the hell was Ran doing there. She hides in a trunk... hears gunshots.. Automatically knows who is being shot at... runs to her (in slow motion) jumps on her to protect her (did she expect to not be shot? how did she know she wasn't going to be shot?)... and ofcourse Vermouth doesn't want to shoot her Angel... no epic fight... just a simple I don't want to shoot someone who saved me. That was a really boring way to get out of that situation in my opinion. I expect some cool plan from Conan I mean if he wa suspicious of Ai coming then he should have had a plan for it so I'm thinking, even thought he got shot by the stun watch, he must have a back up plan. SOO not only was it a really unimpressive way to get out of that situation. it should that Conan isn't as smart as we thought.Wakarimashita wrote:How was that particular example a fail ?L- wrote:Thats a prime example of why putting Ran into the BO story would be a failWakarimashita wrote: She doesn't have to know to be involved (ex : episode 345).
I just really think that could have went waaayyyy better with less sappy moment and more epic fight since it WAS A BO CASE.

I don't see how the trunk thing was stupid, I thought it was classic but effective. And it worked because Ran had seen the pictures, it's not like she just decided to play hide-and-seek. I think Conan saving Ai would have looked silly (and he was asleep anyways), Akai couldn't because of his relationship with Ai and Jodie had just been shot. I agree the slow-motion thing was a bit too much, but it was only done in the anime. And who says BO = epic fight anyways ? It usually doesn't work that way.

Re: Haibara's
Exactly, she sees pictures so she hides in a trunk? What the hell?? Akai could have, I know he didn't want him to see her but I don't think she would risk her life over it. BO doesn't have to equal epic fight but that was the biggest BO encounter at the time the hype just called for an epic fight.
I was just giving out examples and suggestions anyways I just think it could have gone waayyyy better without Ran.
It would have been better for Conan to somehow save her I mean he did promise too, as Ran has not made such promise nor does she even know Ai that well.

Re: Haibara's
It's anime. The pictures were just a reason to explain Ran's presence, it doesn't compare with real life but it still works fine. Gosho uses that a lot (the woman in the London Arc being the last example).L- wrote: Exactly, she sees pictures so she hides in a trunk? What the hell?? No matter how I look at it, i don't think Akai saving Ai could have worked.
And I think it would have been waayyy lamer without Ran, the "Move it Angel" was the climax of the episode, IMO.
The AiRan relationship had been building up since the mystery in the net, it's much more interesting then a one time promise.
I still think it was epic, not necessarly in terms of fighting (this isn't One Piece) but in terms of revelations and suspense.

If the "Move it Angel" was the climax then that just proves that this was a fail. I know the pictures were just a reason to explain Ran's presence, which is exactly my point. Gosho forced her to be there.

Re: Haibara's
On the contrary, it conveyed the emotional aspect of the episode just fine. "Forcing a character to be there" doesn't make sense, Gosho just writes a story, take it or leave it; otherwise you can say the glasses were just there to explain Ai's presence, the make-up was just there to explain Heiji's presence etc...L- wrote: If the "Move it Angel" was the climax then that just proves that this was a fail. Re: Haibara's
Not exactly the same thing. Its because she has nothing to do with the BO so if she's there gosho just seems to force to be there so she'll be of importance, but thats not how you see it. Oh well just different thinking I suppose

Re: Haibara's
Exactly. I still think it's foolish to say "Gosho should put this character there, that character there, take out this one because according to me...". I also complain sometimes because I think Ai has not been used enough in the recent BO cases or because Gosho is overdoing it with romance but I think Gosho knows what he's doing and I don't expect him to write his manga according to my wishful thinking.L- wrote: Oh well just different thinking I suppose![]()

I guess but he should take fans suggestions. I mean they are the people who love your manga/anime so naturally some of their ideas will make it better.

You should reread this section of the arc. You'd find Ran's suspicion of Jodie makes sense in the context. In the shoplifting case 42-2, Jodie says she is leaving Teitan high. Ran and Sonoko talk to her afterwards and Jodie admits her stated reason for leaving, family matters, was a lie. She then says her reason for leaving is: "I finally found a map of a very special treasure, I've been searching [for] all along". She doesn't clarify when Ran and Sonoko obviously ask. In the shoplifting case, Jodie stops Ran from calling Conan, admonishing that "you don't know when your reliable figures might disappear." Then in 42-4, Ran sees the pictures and wonders what their purpose is. By 42-5, she realizes that Jodie has been fairly interested in Conan for a while now, having been present in several cases where Jodie and Conan were together. On the phone with Agasa, she worries about the murderous invitation to the monster party and Conan and Jodie in the same thought, meaning she suspects that Jodie might possibly be a source of danger to Conan.L- wrote: If the "Move it Angel" was the climax then that just proves that this was a fail. In 42-11, Ran explains her reasoning. She thought that Jodie might have something to do with Shinichi's disappearance; specifically criminals forced Shinichi underground, and Jodie was blackmailed into finding Shinichi's weak points which will allow criminals to try to find him. Given Shinichi's behavior on the phone up to this point and how he keeps telling the police to keep his cases secret, her guess is sensible and close to correct minus Jodie's involvement. Suspecting Jodie, Ran decides to ask Jodie what the pictures mean, so she heads over her to Jodie's apartment. It was stated that Japanese people normally don't keep collections of pictures posted like that, so Ran was suspicious of what they meant, not realizing that Americans like to post photos of people they meet - like the actresses in the Golden Apple case did.

@chekhov I still think hiding in a trunk is a little much.
