Again, saying this file killed her character is a bit excessive imo, especially since her fondness of Higo has been slightly build up to this point. Also, I would wait for this case to conclude, before I rush to judgement. Who knows what the moral at the end will be? And if you don't like Haibara having more than one character trait in general, well, then your out of luck I guess.

As a massive fanboy of Haibara I like where her character development went :).
My dad’s a soldier blue I’ll be a soldier, too
When I grow older you will see me rescue you
I’ll teach you this old song so you can sing along
When I am dead and gone the day won’t be so long.

Spoiler:
I love the fact that Haibara interacts with Kogor and is a bit furious about her idol having a girlfriend, that shows another side of her character...But I would rather see more of the cynical and smart scientist that I love the most, and I have the feeling is neglecting the cool, deep side of Ai (which makes her special compared to the other characters),in order to make her more "normal" or funny.
So I get what Suhoo means,I kinda have the same opinion even if I do like the funny and angry Ai too.I just hope her role will not be limited to that in the future.

Spoiler:
I'm going to say this again—1 File out of 925, overall (and 750, since Shiho/Ai was introduced) does not "destroy" a character. To think that she's now going to stop being dark and cynical because of this 1 File—this 1 story—is unreasonable. There's no reason why Shiho/Ai couldn't have become such a Ryusuke fangirl in the period between his initial appearance (Files 344–346/Episodes 279–280; Soccer Supporter Case/Hooligan's Labyrinth) and his most recent appearance before the current file (Files 885–887/Episodes 765–766; Kite-Flying Competition Murder Case/Teimuzu River Kite Flying Case). That's 50 Volumes worth of time—who's to say it couldn't happen? Even before Ryusuke's most recent appearance before the current file, there were signs of Shiho/Ai really, really admiring him (Files 841–843/Episodes 722–723; Delivery Service/Sweet and Cold Delivery Service).

And just to pre-empt any comments of "I didn't think that," this post is addressed to everyone who happens to read it, whether they agree with me or not.
“Life is infinitely stranger than anything which the mind of man could invent. We would not dare to conceive the things which are really mere commonplaces of existence. If we could fly out of that window hand in hand, hover over this great city, gently remove the roofs, and and peep in at the queer things which are going on, the strange coincidences, the plannings, the cross-purposes, the wonderful chains of events, working through generations, and leading to the most outre results, it would make all fiction with its conventionalities and foreseen conclusions most stale and unprofitable.”

Spoiler:
In a way, you can say that some Haibara fans are being as overly dramatic now, as Haibara is about Higo being possibly in a relationship

I hope that I can find someway to contribute to the community even if it's just random crack theories and looking things up for people who can't find the information they need.

Yep—they're making such a big deal over one case. They do know that the story is going to keep trucking right along, after this story, with her being the blunt cynic that they want her to be, right?

Spoiler:
To be honest, she really hasn't been all that cynical in a very long time. Since like before Clash of Red and Black.
Almost all of her characterization throughout the Bourbon arc has been her lack of understanding of Conan's trust in Subaru
as well as her almost becoming house wife-like in her comments to Agasa about his weight and her becoming obsessed with
fashion (reading magazines and talking about the Fusae brand bags) as well as celebrity (Higo). At this point she is supposed to represent
a completely normal elementary school girl, with the whole ending of mystery train adding to that with the BO thinking that she is finally dead.

Many of the "haibara is dead and this a new haibara character" type arguments should have taken place as far back as when Jodie asked if Haibara wanted to go into witness protection and she denied it because she found a happy place with friends and doesn't want to run away from her problems anymore. That is really when she first started to change.

Agreed—you're absolutely right.

Naturally, though, she should be involved in the BO plot, all the way up to the final confrontation.

Spoiler:
I complained about Ai's character changes for a long time,it's just that this case makes the changing more obvious is a bad way IMO,to the point that we don't recognize her anymore. It's not just about one case, but this particular case is highlighting the bad characterization that Gosho is doing lately with her.
Anyway I will enjoy the file because it looks funny and refreshing, after so many breaks I'm still happy to read a case like that ^^

You are talking about everything after she rejected the witness protection program, right? Or was that bad, as well?

Spoiler:
I believe that this chapter is really cool in many ways, the interaction, the comedy, finally haibara being around in a case without the Kids being around. I see the case being more exciting forward to the conclusion.
Spoiler:

I dont think haibara's character is dead at all, and there is no problem for someone to be a fangirl about a footballer or actor. This file didn't destroy her, we are just seeing another side of her we didn't see before much.

I see the next file, haibara ignoring Yoko, or glaring at here from time to time, I think it will be awesome, waiting happily for next file 8-)

Spoiler:
The biggest question I want to be answered is 'how and why could Haibara change this much in less than a year?' She has had a disastrous life for past 20>years, and it has only been several months since she joined Conan and Agasa residence. I don't get how she could become a normal teenager girl and a fervent fangirl in that short time. Yes, people change. But being given only several months, this change is not plausible imo.

This argument goes even more bizarre if you actually consider the number of cases she was involved... one/two per day? There is fairly little room for her characteristics to show progress apart from what's being shown in DC.. (but hey, you (I'm talking to myself right here) know how many winters they've had in less than a year...)

...But hey, we're not really talking about the case anymore I suppose. I'll stop.

Spoiler:
It has to do with comic book time. Yes, it has only be about 1 year in the series timeline. However, outside of the comic, in real life time moves much faster. The comics have been released over the course of 20 years, if the characters showed no development or changes at all then it just wouldn't be as entertaining to read. The fact that we have had 3 separate times where they have said that it was February and that New Years actually took place in the series (Fugitive, Mouri Kogoro (manga version)) still don't trump the fact that Gosho wants us to know that less than one year has passed in the series so far, whether that be so that the characters don't seem to be trapped in their younger forms forever, or that we may over look something due to the fact that time passes a lot slower in series, whos to know?

As for Haibara, sort of the whole point of her character, post Vermouth arc, was to show change. To show that she has friends to lean on when she needs help. To show that she isn't the lonely cynical brooding person we first met. To show that she could be "normal".

Although her being normal still doesn't take away the past that she experienced and she can still delve out information when Conan needs it, like the descriptions of Rum, ect. In a way, you could almost say that she is more willing to give Conan information now as well.
I hope that I can find someway to contribute to the community even if it's just random crack theories and looking things up for people who can't find the information they need.
