Detective Conan Files 796-800 Discussion Thread: Dun dun dun

So, does anyone feel like figuring out the trick used in the bathroom?

What we see:
She's bound, but from the drawing, she still has use of her fingers and can move her elbows up and down.
She's sitting at the foot of door to the toilet, which is open.
Her shoe is untied, but there is a knot keeping the shoestring on the shoe.
The shoe is under a towel located near her feet, which is just under where the door would have been if closed.
The towel has a wet corner (and it doesn't seem to have blood all over it).
Her jacket is behind her.
Anything else? The toilet paper dispenser on the other side? Cell phones?

The questions are:
how did she get the gun to go off? (I'm thinking the gun was in the victim's mouth when shot).
how did she bind herself?
what purpose did the shoe serve? why is the towel wet? (did she bite it? if so, she needed to tape her mouth afterwards)
why was it necessary for mouri to go away at first?
was the door used in any way?

My shot in the dark: she's all bound except for her mouth. Her hands are holding the tape for her mouth.
The door is almost closed with the towel hanging on top. The shoelace is threaded through the gun trigger, and knotted,
so that when forced through, the victim's thumb will pull the trigger. She is stepping on her shoe, so that the shoelace is taught.
She is also biting the end of the towel.

To shoot the trigger, she uses her mouth to pull towel down, so that it falls on the shoelace, forcing the shoelace through the trigger.
She falls to open the door and puts the tape onto her mouth.

So um, one thing bothers me about the translation...Though it's not the translation itself, that's awesome. Rather...it's the content

One little thing...Ran knows about the badge, transmitter AND glasses!? Doesn't she find that...the least bit...odd? I mean...wow. What.

Another thing that bothers me: Conan is totally revealing himself to the woman. That's all fine and dandy: he's got his wristwatch, she doesn't seem to be the brightest apple in the bunch and he's been through worse. ...But I know - I can just feel it - somebody else is going to sneak up on him or something and he won't have the time to kick a soccerball, he'll need his watch. Then he'll be abducted again and that'll lead into the probable BO arc


...at least, that's what I think will happen

Does anyone know when Ran found out about the tracking glasses?

Re the bathroom trick, I assume...
1) She disguised herself to look like Kogoro's assistant if Dreadocks knew her (and flushed the disguise later after cutting it up), or didn't bother otherwise
2) She put Dreadlocks to sleep with the sleeping pills she used on Conan using one of Kogoro's cups and dragged him to the toilet
3) She took all of the things she needed from him and put the phone on him.
4) She positioned him on the toilet with the gun
5) She took the laces off her boots, and wrapped the laces with the knots around each other through the trigger so the knots had enough friction against one another to pull the trigger and not come apart, but could be quickly unwrapped and dropped.
6) She taped herself up - note her hands were in front so she could text and pull the string despite the tape
7) She held the towel up in front with her chin of her to block most of the gunpowder. Part of the towel got wet in the toilet.
8) After pulling the trigger she loosen the laces from one another and dropped them to the floor, dropped the towel and sat down where Conan found her

Oh yeah, another thing to add to Okiya = Akai: Because Akai isn't exactly a people person, he has become convinced that cooking makes people like you.


I mean srsly:
"CREAM STEW, I HAVE IT" (thinking) 'Oh god, Akai, what are you doing? This is how neighbors act right? Agh, I don't know -_-'

Although someone's initial guess was when she saved Haibara I think she could've found out much earlier. Like....Desperate Revival early. Haibara and the others came to rescue the Detective Boys from the culprits at the end of the cave. So it seems logical Ran would've found out around this time about some of the glasses functionality and the DB badges having transmitters.

I'm trying to contain myself but I just had to add this here:

"How do you like the fruit juice I recommended from the vending machine that we stopped off at...?"

(If there's not some kind of trick to the translation of this line) This seems to suggest that she just said something like "That juice is pretty good" and let him press the button. While that's kind of suspicious in its own right, how would she have drugged it? In that scenario, Conan would've had to give her the bottle after he got it out of the machine so she could tamper with it. She also could've laced somewhere with...something to make him fall asleep (like the button of the vending machine or her car) but that seems too prepared. Didn't Conan just randomly tag along? How would she have set this up?

Hopefully there's a good explanation as to how this all worked :X

The only "trick" to the translation is that I didn't include the word "buy" since it wasn't clear who did the buying.

Now that the spoiler is out, we learn that...

And where Sera got her bike, she carried from America to Japan or bought it recently, and when do she had driving license.

That's what I want to know...I guess she had her driving licence in USA,and then she bought a bike when she arrived in Japan,which means she has a lot of money...
