I think probably the most interesting part of this is going to be how Ai came to...trust Okiya. I mean, it's too early to use the word trust, but I'd say she almost looks comfortable with the way the situation was.

Also: Conan. You must stop telling murderers that you know what they've done while (in this case supposedly) alone with them. It's not a good idea 

And Okiya + Sera + Amuro possibly meeting? Along with the possible Ai/Sera conflict? HYPE

I can't wait for the chapter to come out.

done reading some of Chekhov theories(30 minutes of it) and it makes me wonder how much Gosho thought up all the things. I'm glad I picked up this series

Regarding the spoiler translation for Sera's picture, I doubt Conan is the one talking to her. He should be caught up with the robber and thus not available to call. Ran seems more likely. Sera's "he" interests me. I wouldn't be surprised if she referred to Akai as "he" in what she said above.

Why am i the only one who seems to really like the red shirt case? i consider it one of my favorite episodes ever.

I liked the red shirts case just fine. The mystery was ok. People had really high expectations for it because of the 00 mark and the Org, FBI, Okiya, and Scar Akai were showing, but most people overlooked that real action was unlikely because it wasn't anywhere near the conclusion of the arc. Basically it played on suspense, and it served its role.
I'm not going to expect too much action in 798-799 either other than character meetings, which is good enough for me.

Consolidation of my thoughts on the case..
(Disclaimer: I didn't think of everything on my own, this is also based on what other people have posted in the thread! Also, I'm not reading the new spoilers yet so I may be missing info.)

What happened at the detective agency
- as we've pretty much figured out, the lady is Fake Kei, while dreadlocks is Real Kei.
- Real Kei had booked the appointment with Kogoro, but Fake Kei intercepted him by getting Kogoro etc to go to Colombo. --> the e-mail address was different, she had not swapped phones yet. she's probably the shadowy figure in the first file, watching to make sure Kogoro etc were out of the detective agency.
- Fake Kei waits for Real Kei to show up, pretends to be Kogoro's employee, serves him drugged tea. --> This may mean that they were not acquainted. Or if they were, he had not suspected anything, maybe because she's not supposed to know that he's one of the robbers.
- Fake Kei drags Real Kei into the bathroom --> Conan had noticed marks of something being dragged across.
- Fake Kei props him up on the toilet, plants the gun in his hands, sets up a trick with her bootlaces such that she can pull the trigger from the distance, while the gun is still in his hands. (haven't figured out the exact trick!)
- Fake Kei binds herself with duct tape -- someone mentioned the theory of sticking one end of tape to the door, the other end to herself, then turning herself around & around so she becomes bound... she could have simply bound her mouth before binding the rest of her body.

The robbery and why they consulted Kogoro
- It was probably a scheme i.e. the bank employee was in on it. Possibly he was supposed to quickly surrender the money, hence why he said "Ok! Please stop!" --> he was about to give them the money but they either went too far and killed him, or intentionally betrayed him.
- The locker probably contains something that would fix the problem of the serial numbers on the banknotes being easily identifiable... maybe something like a number press, to modify the serial numbers. *just guessing*
- I don't think the locker contains the money because as a bank robber I wouldn't want ANYONE to find my locker and open it and find my money. Even if I trust Kogoro to only find the right locker and not open it, I wouldn't run the risk.

Fake Kei's motives
- a few people have posted that it might be revenge and that's what I thought too... the bank employee is Fake Kei's brother. she realises that he has been betrayed and decides to avenge him.
- So right now she is on the way to find the last robber and finish the job.. because she knows her game is up. A famous detective is searching "her" apartment and will soon find out it isn't hers, and she has to produce her ID to the police the next day. so she has to finish the job tonight. I think she just wants to kill the 3 of them and isn't thinking too much about the consequences yet..maybe she's planning a suicide in the end.

What happened in the apartment
- the apartment probably belonged to Fake Kei's brother, who probably shared with one of the bank robbers --> hence why Fake Kei has a key, and the bank robbers also had access to it (the 'party' was their gathering).
- Fake Kei got into the apartment while no one else is in, plants the listening devices. (are they easy to get for normal people...?)
- During the 'party' the robbers probably discussed how one of them had booked an appointment with Kogoro. So Fake Kei finds out about the appointment.
- Fake Kei entered the apartment after the party while Blond robber is alone, kills him, stuffs him in suitcase.

Connection with the BO...?
- It's the listening devices that makes me think that the BO might be involved... but I might be wrong, maybe they aren't that difficult to get?
- I have the idea that part of the BO's work may be as a "consulting criminal"... if you draw a Holmes analogy, Holmes was a consulting detective and his nemesis Moriarty was a consulting criminal. if the BO does something similar, Fake Kei could have accessed them somehow, told them she wanted to avenge her brother's death. In exchange for their help she'll give them the loot from the robbery.
(JUST AN IDEA! )

Anyway, sorry to jump back and forth in an already garbled post, but I also like the revenge theory because it draws a nice parallel with Sera, the little sister who came to investigate her brother's death...?

THEORY#1

the 3 robbers are fake kei,the guy in the photo(aka photoguy) and the guy in suitcase(aka victim#2).the real kei(aka victim#1) is the brother of photoguy.fake kei bugs  the homes of both the robbers in case anyone tries to betray. both photoguy and victim#2 decide to store money in locker and keep the info to themselves as they get suspicous of fake kei.so photoguy places money in a locker and keeps the key .he tells location of locker only to victim#2.the fake kei, knowing that photo guy has kept money himself, murders him.she then searches in vain for the money.after no money is found she goes to victim#2's apartment. she ,under the disguise of celebration, drugs him and  forces him to tell the location of money. he tells the location of locker and the fact that photoguy had the key. she then kills him and hid his body in suitcase.she then locks the door to apartment so smell would not leak .from the bugs she had placed in photoguy's apartment she learns about the meeting of real kei and mouri.
 
in story
she sends the bogus mail to mouri telling him to leave his office before the meeting time(note :fake kei didn't knew the time of meeting) .she then act as mouri's assistant to real kei. she drugs him ,take him to toilet.then she searches for key and replace it with a different key she had prepared.then she kills real kei by using an unknown trick.
after postponing her interrogation, she treis to leave but other but in and  hence she decide to go to victim#2's apartment.(afterall she would not go to her real home!!)with a good excuse she manages to go alone outside but conan thwart her and tag along.she then tries to drug him(i hope unsuccessfuly).
prediction
i think she is going to locker and calling/texting kogoro to make him panic and stop him thinking straight

THEORY#2

since it is tough to explain with 1 bad person. i have added another culprit in this theory

in story
fake kei sends bogus mail to mouri so he would move out before the meeting time.(note :fake kei didn't knew the time of meeting)
she enters and do like stated in above theory.in this case however the partner tapes fake kei i n such a way that she would be able to text and kill real kei with  a gun.fake kei uses towels so she would not get the gunpowder on her.the partner takes tape roll and real key beforehand leaving only a fake key with real kei.
from this point things happen exactly as stated in above theory.

prediction
she is texting/calling the partner for progress and meeting place.

i personally believe that theory#2 is incorrect.though it seems more plausible.

Ran suggests they ask Kashizuka Kei.

Amuro: "She's probably not even here any more. When we went past the porch earlier, her boots were gone. I mean, she might have put them away in the shoe cupboard but she might have done a runner, scared that we'd find a body on investigating the rooms."

Kogoro: "So you're saying that Miss Kei killed him?"

Amuro: "It's not conclusive, but the fact that Conan's shoes were also missing is somewhat worrying."

Ran: "What? Why?"

Amuro: "Who knows...maybe he went after her...maybe he got taken with her..."

Ran tries to call Conan, Kogoro messages Kei.

A reply comes back from Kei: "Judging by the fact you've messaged me, I'm guessing that you've found the body.

The boy I mean to release at dawn. If you plan to get in my way, then that may compromise his safety."

Kogoro: "So she did do in this man?"

Kogoro: "So she did do in this man?"

Kogoro: "But there weren't any traces of gun backfire - "

Amuro: "It's just my speculations. But the fact we can't make a move until dawn..."

Kogoro: "Maybe the kid could sneakily tell us where he is..."

Amuro: "Professor Agasa?"

Ran: "Conan's always got a badge with a transmitter...and the Professor's got a pair of glasses that can be used to follow it."

Amuro: "I see."

Kei tries to make a call in the car but it fails (no signal).

Ran calls Prof and tells him that Conan's been abducted.

A call comes in to her.

It's Sera (oh no)...

"Why the hell have you been switched off the whole time?! Do you really hate me that much?!"

Ran explains the situation.

Sera: "What? Conan's been abducted?"

They're just discussing what they're going to do since Prof A's beetle is being mended at the moment, when Okiya comes by with some cream stew he wants to share.

Okiya: "Why don't we use my car?"

Haibara (hiding behind ProfA): "Could you just lend us the key? Then the Professor and I can go."

Okiya: "But that car's kinda temperamental."

ProfA: "So how about me and Subaru go instead?"

Okiya: "I don't mind,..so long as you're fine staying at home and hovering around waiting for good news...If you like, you can come too...I won't force you though (I'm guessing this is all to Haibara)

Haibara makes no comment.

Ran and Sera continue to discuss matters.

Sera: "I see...well, if we go by what you've told me about the man's belonging and the situation, I reckon I can hazard a guess...I bet he already knows."

Ran: "He?"

Sera gets on her bike. Sera: "Anyhow, I'm going to start heading across your way. I want to meet this apprentice of Mr Kogoro as well!"

Amuro: "This room's weird. All the stuff in it is for men."

Kogoro: "So the only person living here was Kei's brother?"

Ran: "You mean, in this short time you've investigated all that?"

Amuro: "Well, I don't know yet for sure but the person who lived in this room was very focussed on a certain case..."

Scenes of the bank robbery have been recorded on the TV. They watch them.

Kogoro: "I think it was a trio of one small one and one thin one...and one bulky one..."

Ran: "They showed the part where the bulky guy shot somebody...although I missed seeing who it actually was who got shot."

The name of the victim is shown on the news - Shouno Kenji.

Ran: "That's Kei's brother from her phone background! But why are their surnames different?"

Kogoro: "Moreover, if the guy living here was her brother, then he vwouldn't have been able to make this morning's cut."

Amuro: "Well, putting who was actually living here aside...it would be natural to think, given the circumstances, that he was some sort of crime fanatic, a relative of a victim, or was the perpetrator himself."

Kogoro: "True."

(Small voice) Ran: "Why...why are you Dad's apprentice when you're already so fast at thinking and good? As far as I've seen so far you're much..."

Amuro: "The Master is only pretending to be confused...including the time before...I mean, the shooting suicide earlier...I've still got a lot to learn!"

Petrol station: Kei leaves Conan in the car and goes to the loo.

In Okiya's car (I wish it was a Subaru make): Haibara: "Ah, they're moving again. This time..."

ProfA: "Which direction? Do they seem like they're getting lost...?"

Okiya: "She might really be lost you know...lost looking for that final blood soaked destination that she wants."

Sera arrives near the base of Kei's block of flats. Kogoro investigates Kei's laptop but it's locked.

Amuro: "Any idea of a password?"

Ran: "Maybe her birthday - year, month and day" Kogoro: "Maybe 5563."

Amuro: "Maybe a longer one, less easy to remember." (he hints)

Kogoro: "If this was me then..." He finds the password stuck underneath the desk.

In the car: Kei: "Why doesn't any of the three of them pick up their phone?"

Conan: "Shall I help you find her? The woman you're looking for."

Kei: "What? How did you - "

Conan: "Oh, I didn't drink the juice you know. When I opened the cap it didn't make any snapping noise, meaning that you opened it once and put something into it.  Anyway, if you want to find the person you're looking for, then let's go and meet her! The three people you just called, you had their details in your mail address book, so you know where they live right? You want to kill her don't you? Miss Urakawa Serina?"

I think if her theories are not correct it'll be unbelievable. She thought every damn thing and everything fills the patern perfectly. But well, everything can happen, Gosho is always surprising us.

I think the person in the suitcase was a woman. My basis was what Conan said to Urakawa.
But I still have to read the whole thing...

I changed my opinion. I don't think the woman is a robber, but rather the younger sister of the man who was killed in the bank robbery. She wants revenge on the three men involved in her brother's death, which is why the deaths so far have been so violent.

The thing I don't get is about the key... unless the fake kei's brother was a robber too.
