I'm not surprised that nothing major happened in this file, but I still hope that we will get some information on the mystery child in the last file of this case or if Shuukichi is the middle brother, then it will be revelaed.

The culprit is most likely someone from Shuukichi's past. Maybe, he/she lost a game, because of Shuukichi. There is also possibility that the culprit is the partner with the current Shuukichi's shogi opponent.

I also would like to know what Yumi and Shuukichi were saying in the flashback. Well, I will wait for the translation. I actually enjoy this case. It's truth that it's not the most interesting DC case, but it's not uninteresting, either. Besides, I can see interactions of one of my favourite couple.

Edit: Thank you for the partly translation. The flashback scene between Yumi and Shuukichi was sweet. I really like it.

So, the culprit is indeed from Shuukichi's past. I think that the culprit might have a personal grudge against Shuukichi. Whatever, the culprit has against Shuukichi, started 10 years ago and Shuukichi didn't even played professional shogi, ten years ago (I think). Maybe, the culprit and Shuukichi were in high school together.

Shuukichi is a character with a very tragic past. His brother died, his mother shrank, his sister is missing, and now his girlfriend got kidnapped. Not to mention that he's very close to ruin his own dreams about being the shogi propro player when he's one step before realizing this dream. I wonder what other calamities he will experience...

There is a flashback to how Yumi and Shuukichi met 10 years ago on a train.

the culprit mentions that the matter that allowed his victory began 10 years ago....

In the previous chapters about Shuukichi we know that it was "several years ago" that he decided to get the shogi titles.

the christmas immediately after that is when he gave Yumi the envelope.

two days ago he invited her to the diner and asked if she still had the envelope.
break is probably due to world cup soccer/footbal games
you know how much he loves those!
I hope that I can find someway to contribute to the community even if it's just random crack theories and looking things up for people who can't find the information they need.

My main question is... has Yumi been bound and gagged and unconscious on that couch for two and a half days??? Wasn't there a discussion in the case where Takagi got kidnapped that humans tend to only last about 3 days in a situation like that O_o...
I hope that I can find someway to contribute to the community even if it's just random crack theories and looking things up for people who can't find the information they need.

After reading the partial translation I have to say I like the Yumi/Shuukichi flashback,it was really cute and it's different from the other couples(and of course I like it because they aren't childhood friends)
But besides that,nothing really interesting,I just wonder if we'll get some appearances of Sera and the mystery child in the end of that case.

Two weeks break in the middle of a case after one week brake in the middle of the same case? What the f*ckery Gosho?

Sorry, I just had to get that out of my system. But otherwise I'm relatively fine with this case... I just hoped something more for the 900th chapter...

The chapter doesn't look interesting and we have to wait three weeks for next file! Well, can't really judge it without English translations, but I might die during this waiting time.
Just trying to stay afloat in the hell that is life..

besides, we have clear documentation through the manga that he knows the secret to immortality anyway, right?
