Detective Conan Files 812-814 Discussion Thread: "Cold Case"

What if Shinichi's parents payed Conan a visit shortly before this case, sort of like how Yukiko did in the Vermouth arc.  Okiya, who is Akai, revealed to Conan that Ai and his sister Sera are getting suspicious of his true identity.  Ai was checking his neck for a mark, or voice changer, or something in a previous file.  And since Akai doesn't want his sister to be put in any danger, figured it would be best for her to continue thinking he was dead.

Now let's say Conan had Yukiko disguise Yusaku as Okiya just for a day or two, to try to put one over on whoever was suspicious.  That would explain the reason he was using his right hand to brush his teeth.  It would also explain the wig hair and lipstick that were found in the sink by Sera.  Perhaps it would also explain why Okiya/Yusaku knew the outcome of the case before Conan, and ultimately gave him the hint needed to solve it:  Yusaku already knew from 10 years ago, and dropping hints for Shinichi is something his father has done for him since the beginning of the Manga.

it would be a bit of a stretch to think they went this far while Conan and Okiya aren't shown talking important things. If Okiya from this case was Yuusaku in disguise, he wouldn't need Sonoko's hint about ninja. If you think that Yuusaku worked on the previous case and finding out this the current case happened near a vending machine, it would be easy to deduce that the coins left those marks and would pass a hint to Conan earlier or just let him figure it out.

so it really was Okiya, and Sera surely recognized his collar bone and some facial features

No,that would be disappointing...I think Kaito Kid has nothing to do with the main plot,and I hope that won't change in the future...

Impossible too. Vermouth and Okiya were in the same place at the same time... unless Okiya, is Okiya, but he was "replaced" in the last couple of chapters... but i don't think that's the case.

Holy Hell, I nearly had a heart attack reading this chapter.

I mean, Conan's slipped up before but never THAT hard. He all but told everyone standing there "I'M REALLY SHINICHI GUYS!!" I actually found myself muttering "Shut up Conan... Shut up Conan... You're blowing it... Ran's going to kill you.... Shut up right now!" I really hope this isn't going to set up to yet another near miss. Ran needs to find out, and seeing as that was pretty much the biggest slip I've EVER seen Conan make, I feel like this could set up the big reveal at long last. Okiya obviously knows now. Sera I think has always known, or at least suspected, and now Conan's pretty much told her as well. how many other people get to find out before Ran does?

Anyway, that aside, it's obvious the Bourbon arc is coming to a head, and I can't wait. What Sera said intrigues/concerns me. I've always had this small amount of apprehension about her. something about the way she acts just puts me on guard. It wouldn't suprise me if she, and not Amuro, turns out to be Bourbon. What if she doesn't know her brother is FBI? What if she only found out he used to be in the BO and let herself get recruited to find out what happened to him? We're told Bourbon hates Akai. What if that's because Bourbon is his bitter obsessive sister who hates him for disappearing from her life? And now she wants to find out the truth about what happened because if he's dead she can never have it out with him? Just my two cents. I guess we'll find out when Gosho reveals it.

If Aoyama is going to hint about Sera on next chapter it will be the fight between her and Haibara. So that we can look forward to the Bourbon arc after that.

It would be a twist, an M Night Shyamalan, so I would rather avoid that lol.

I do kind of wonder if Borubon is going to be either Sera or Okiya, or if hes that other one, Amouro or whatever? Amouro didn't show up at all in these chapters, so if they're going to have Bourbon do anything, I guess either he is Sera or Okiya, or Amouro.....or I am way off and just rambling. Still Okiya all but said I know you're Shinchi, at least it seemed that way to me.

A Sera-Haibara confrontation for the next file would be great, yup. After all Gosho said in an interview a year ago that he was planning a Sera-Haibara confrontation so maybe next file? That would be cool.

Sera is the only character that I feel there is something not yet clear in regards to her character, so I understand what you mean. I don't think Gosho will reuse the brother/sister plot exactly like before. There's something more.
