Here's something no one has mentioned yet that I thought was odd about the case:

For no real apparent reason, Conan goes off on his own to "buy the meat"

Yeah, and he didn't buy it after all. XD It seems like Conan went off and then came back to the others, but they didn't have any shopping bag in market.
Other weird things:
1) Ai in Professor's glassses - highly improbable. I don't think you can see person who's holding camera in someone's glasses (normal glasses), not that clearly at least.
2) Ayumi wasn't hurt after spilling the curry on her. Omg, this curry should have been hot as hell and she just took a shower?!
3) Genta's talk about Sera's breast - O_o Since when children became that insolent?
Funny moment - Ayumi got Ai's clothes and was like "Yey~!! Ai's scent~!!" XD Dunno what to think about it.

As soon as I heard this involved a child kidnapping, my very first thought was that it was a continuation of the serial child kidnappings mentioned in Chiba's first love case. Gosho doesn't really do this often (he doesn't really like to do much that requires specific prior knowledge of a minor plot point unless it's really integral to the main story, I guess), but I have been kind of wanting him to go that route with this case. While that was likely just a PSA back in 741-742, we can always dream!

why didn't somebody mention that for someone like FBI/CIA/BO it's highly unlikely to strike in the full sunlight with this many people inside the house, especially the more secretive orgs like BO/CIA, therefore i'm quite confident that this isn't BO etc related (at least not the case, the sideplot with okiya and sera could be (let's hope it))

the whole reflection thing is crazy.. i mean... as said beforehand, this must be some awesome camcorder and Ai must be standing on a chair or table to make it even slightly possible for her to be taped on his glasses... and Sera must be really! into investigating conan & surroundings that she zoomed in that much xD
just looked into it the third time ... she must be standing on chair ontop of a table to catch agasa from that angle with rug and vase

the "buy the meat" did bother me too but from the panels you can't exclude the possibility that the bag with the meat was just out of sight and then in panic of the new information just forgotten

It's happened before

If I recall that was an abandoned building other than the DBoys. This was in his neighborhood, with an unknown number of people. Hard to move him without people noticing...

The same thing happened in the file I referenced above. They took him from his home. Okiya noticed the open door, that's why he helped himself to the pursuit glasses andcame.

Well, my initial reaction upon reading this file was ecstatic times 100000000. At first, I thought it was going to be some random DB case without any Sera or new potential for plot. But then Gosho throws in Sera, Okiya, and Haibara in the same case. Caught my attention in an instant.

This case certainly has it's odd points and new information from the next file is definitely needed. Conan leaving to get the meat and then randomly appearing back with the others without meat is suspicious. As is the whole Sera and OKiya connection. And well, the kidnapping case in general. I'll stick with the theory posted earlier with the whole there was something valuable in the vase and the kidnappers decided to take it back while kidnapping Ayumi who they most likely confused with Ai not as in BO motives, but just as a girl living with the prof. I'm guessing they also caught some glimpse of Ai in the video, but didn't zoom in enough or something to get a good look at her face.

As much as I initially thought this was a BO case and with all the ambiguous hinting, I don't think it is a BO case. Due to the reasons everyone else pointed out earlier i.e. didn't kill Agasa, I'd think they know Sherry's face and not kidnap the wrong girl (unless they are either extremely dumb or don't know what she looks like, which would mess up the viewer's perception of the BO members), and plus the two shadowed figures in the car didn't stand out much from other times we've had a shadowed culprit in a case.

And the whole Genta and Mitsuhiko commenting on Sera's chest was hilarious, Ayumi galloping around saying that she has Ai's scent was funny yet disturbing at the same time, and Haibara yelling at Genta and Mitsuhiko while in her disguise was scary yet hilarious.

And as for Mitsuhiko not remembering Shinichi, despite them knowing his name and face in the first file and chapter when he was all over the papers, they've only had limited interactions with him and have stated before that they need some more egging on to exactly remember who he is aside from "Ran-oneechan's boyfriend" or whatever they've said before. And I'm guessing when Genta refers to Ran as "that nee-chan..." is something that seems more appropriate in Japanese language. That's how Heiji addresses her and out of the DB only Ayumi and Mitsuhiko, to my memory, directly address her as Ran-oneechan.

So much information my head is spinning. Good thing I saved reading this for today. Overall, gotta love this chapter and super excited for the next file.

It can't be an intentional kidnapping right? I mean who would want to kidnap Haibara other then the BO and this can't be the BO because they would have killed Agasa.

As mentioned before, this is really odd. No one would pay that much attention to such a minor detail, not even the BO. Coming to think of it, Sera should not have yet known the Professor and yet she paid that much interest in that video - to me that is highly suspicious. It is pretty obvious that she is deeply involved in the whole BO-Sherry-FBI conflict, the only question is which side she (?) is on.

2) Ayumi wasn't hurt after spilling the curry on her. Omg, this curry should have been hot as hell and she just took a shower?!

I don't think Curry is cooked that hot (rather, it is cooked for a long time IIRC), and the curry that splashed on her was close to the surface, such even cooler than the average. Yeah, it should have been a bit painful but should have been quickly over once washed away and cooled by water before she entered the shower. Fortunately most of her skin was protected by clothes or the lid.
And now we had Ayumi at the beach, in an onsen and in the shower... it really seems like fanservice. (Though, she looked SOOOO CUTE with all that foam in her hair and on her nose and cheeks.

3) Genta's talk about Sera's breast - O_o Since when children became that insolent?

Genta always had been a bit rude. Reminds me of that beach episode where he mentioned something similar (though towards Conan and not the girl who bumped into him). Though, Mitsuhiko agreeing means she must be really flat.

Well... it was cute too. And maybe the whole Ayumi x Ai idea is not that far-fetched. Makes one wonder what those two had done together in the past already...  ;D

LOL so much happened in 16 pages

My thoughts: if the kidnappers are from the BO... Then, why kidnap HaibaraAyumi in the first place? Wouldn't kill her be the easiest solution? Then just wait home for the others to arrive and kill them all. What happened, imo, makes no sense from a BO standpoint.

Conan meeting with Sera when he went "buying meat" doesn't sound right either considering how surprised he was when talking about her later on. He might have met vith Okiya, as they both went the same way if i'm not mistaken. Or he might have just ate all the meat on his way to the supermarket

Next chapters will be interesting. I wouldn't bet on a BO appearance but i just hope it doesn't have the usual lame ending where basically nothing happens.

I think Ayumi's kidnapping is just a  red herring as the real target is that rag. I don't know how they got the info or how they knew that the rag is expensive(as a reason why they stole it). But from what I have seen so far it is leading to a BO case.
