First. Vermouth followed what she thought was Araide car. She was fooled by the FBI at that time. In a way Araide and family were placed in protective custody. If I am reading this right, then they must have accepted FBI's protection. In order to get that, the FBI would need to explain why they needed to be protected. The FBI is not allowed to put people in protective unless those people accept it. It can not be forced on them. A normal person is going to ask questions and need to be convinced why such action is necessary. Thus, I find it hard to believe like you suggest that Araide and family do not know part about what is going on. After all they allowed themselves to be put in Protective Custody. What I meant was in order to make it appear like the real Araide did not appear strange, he needed to act just like the Vermouth Araide, otherwise, the student might have started to wonder what happened to change the Araide they knew. Jodie explained how the Fake Araide acted so the Real Araide could act that way

It would be good if Aoyama brought back old characters (who played a big role in the past, of course) and not just fling them to another country because they're not relevant to the current story line. Or maybe something like they can appear every now and then. Or we can get updates about them.

Maybe no one votes because:
in some intervew Gosho did hint this might happen but it has not happened (yet) therefore the vote options are incorrect.
I'd vote these options:
Gosho hinted Araide investigation on his impersonator happening, but it's yet to come.
Gosho didn't give clear yes or no of this happening.

Chekhov and Kleene's voting for the third option inspired me to do the same. Unfortunately, I'm more inclined to believe in the second. It seems to me that the only reason he was introduced was to give Vermouth someone to disguise as, and now that he's served his purpose, Gosho put him on a bus. While I didn't exactly care for his character, I agree with Chekhov that it was a shame as this proposed idea sounded rather interesting.

When Araide talked to Conan, he indicated he knew very little about his impersonator. He might know more than he let on, but I do not think he knows the identity or motive of Vermouth because the FBI has not liked to give out that info. Consider how much Eisuke was allowed to know before Shuu stopped him. Araide isn't going to know as much as Eisuke. Araide does have credit for knowing Conan had something to do with it because he wasn't surprised at Conan pulling his face.
