In addition, I too don't think it's cheating the reader to have it be a suicide, especially if there are enough hints for people to make the conclusion. ...Actually, I don't think suicide's the easy way out either. If anything, it almost seems it would be harder, especially with how Gosho writes the suicide cases. He makes it seem like murder...which would kind of be difficult to do successfully.

So far, he's done it, and that seems like an achievement to me

there it is talking about an accidentally death that happened because no help was sent for.

Has that case fit?

I assumed she requested to know as soon as possible.  I also doubt she told them the specifics of her situation.  She requested verification that they were siblings, but didn't mention her intention to marry him.

This case was predictable, I have to say it. But, at least is a change in the "default" - 3 suspects 1 is the murderer - that we have readed for the past how many files?. And, the murderer's motive was decaying too... I mean, they killed someone beacause of the most stupid things using complicated tricks... It was time for a change, and the suicide with a deep and important motive was a great one.

Seiji did commit suicide, but it wasn't the case. It was the conclusion.

the Moonlight Sonata case is also a special one, for it's the only case where the culprit successfully commited suicide after being found out. His death had a big impact on Conan, who swore to never let another culprit commit suicide before him ever again...

since Gosho's been criticized for lack of originality, a suicide case really brings a change of pace. Since it's been a while, many readers (including me) will disregard suicide option from the very beginning, and makes the ending more surprising.

introduction of new character is really good, especially if it involves with bourbon arc. it's been a while since last new character introduction (okiya)
