Did anyone else notice that this is the first time Kogoro has been seen drunk in the manga for who knows how long? I can't even remember the last time he was seen smoking.

But Ran could also call Shinichi, by then Conan would excuse himself out (toilet? meet the DB? stomachache? kill more people with his shinigami powers?) then reveal the deduction to Ran via phone and Ran would reveal the deduction according to Shinichi's orders. This happened before in that case where Ran's favorite teacher was involved.

could it be possible that the criminal somehow rigged the TV to electrocute anyone that came in? And then prepare a knife that would drop down on the victim? (Crazy theory)

never say never.. there have been suicide cases before, but in this case it is murder.

The clue that it's murder...

The blade is backwards in the victims hand! The sharp part of the blade should be facing towards yourself if you wanted to slit your own throat.

How did the murderer create the locked room with the key next to the victim?

Points of interest:

• Why did they break down the door when they could have had the landlady to open it? (She lives right next door)
• Why did the same TV channel zapping occur in the landlady's apartment as well as the victims? Conan never really solved this "unimportant case" correctly.
• The landlady lives directly across from the apartment building and the room where the murder occurred. The landlady's room with the television has a window facing the window of the victim's room.  Infrared light from remote controls can be reflected by surfaces, like windows so if someone was outside in between the two apartments with a remote control and 'pranking' the victim by changing their television channels it might also cause the landlady's television set to change since the window would reflect the infrared light back into her window.
• The hint of the books holding down the remote button is a clue that perhaps the criminal used a similar trick to rig the remote control to have the TV zapping through the channels without the criminal needing to hold the remote in person -- that way all 3 could arrive at the victim's door last night and the TV would still be zapping.
• The position of the body, in the middle of the doorway is extremely odd.

Need more panels of the room and more details from last night. =)

It's possible that the TV zapping trick was used to lure the victim to the specific area. What is odd remains how the key and the knife got to their locations and the actual murder method. The man was killed with his neck sliced by a knife.

Odd points also include how the blood splatter is considerably worse around the wrist area and how there is a blank space with a shape remotely similar to the knife mostly free of blood. It's almost as though a larger knife had been sitting in the location then removed in page 14. Blood splatter on the hand seems to suggest that the hand was indeed around the knife when the neck was sliced. The question remains how.

We have yet to see how the suspects will react to the fake Kogoro. If the old man is the culprit as many believe, with what he mentioned about the police, this is not likely to be an alibi trick that requires immediate witnessing. The woman seemed a bit distressed that the landlady showed up, but none of their reactions seem out of the ordinary as of now.

The blood around the hand remains quite strangely positioned. Could it be possible that some form of string was used?

Another odd point would be how the victim doesn't appear shocked, but is looking down, rather. This likely suggests that whatever trick used did not involve the knife falling from a high location, but rather his neck being sliced from below.

The murder victim is also sitting in quite the odd position. He seemed quite relaxed when he died. If this was indeed death by neck slicing, whatever trick used killed him quite swiftly. And as mentioned by Ten, would anyone be sitting cross legged in the middle of a doorway? His expression and position combined makes it seemed as though he had fallen while trying to pick up something from the ground in an unusual way or that he was moved from a sitting position.

If this was purely death by neck slicing in the way described, though, would the victim have bed through the mouth?

Breaking the door down is a good question too, but it's questionable as to whether or not the victim was dead when the three people were at the door. If he wasn't yet, it was likely that breaking the door down activated the mechanism used to kill the victim? Considering the distance the door is from the victim, it seems quite unlikely though.

With the key resting on top of the blood with no blood on it, it is likely that the key was dropped onto the scene after the murder.

From the looks of this, this is a two part case?

If it's in the manga, it's not filler. And in case you haven't noticed (after 787 chapters, it would be about time), the cases are the manga (or like 90% of it).
