Unlike France, America, Philippines, etc. where all the stories are serious business!

Are you trying to tell me that Spiderman isn't realistic!?

My friend's first-year Social Psychology dissertation is on "the symbolisation of the conflict between good and evil in the human soul and society in general in Batman:The Dark Knight". I'm not actually making this up.
Wow and I thout i was wired for a girl who likes Batman and Spiderman and reads alot of weird random books.
Your friend sounds cool can I join forses with him together we can fite the forses of darkness and well first start with myself cuase I have a dark side just waiting to come out hahahhaha ;D ;D ;D
Im my own worse enemy its so true....... ::)

Between That Dark Knight and Arkham Asylum, Batman's been doing a good job of taking himself seriously lately.  But Superman is totally unrealistic.  I mean, have you ever heard of a Japanese series where the characters actually disguise themselves by wearing glasses?

Oh.

Did anything ever come of Conan using phone boxes to call Ran?  As has been mentioned, it's just the series staying relevent to a modern audience.  (There's another similarity to western comics.  Conan operates under Comic Book Time.)  With that said, if mobile phones do come into play, it will be through the events of the Clash of Red and Black arc.  Conan's phone plays a key role in allowing Akai to fake his death.  And while I don't know if this will come up, Takagi also has access to Conan's fingerprints through that phone.

I bet the reason that Kid and his reptalian pal want Pandora is that it's really made of Kryptonite. Then Conan shall be defeated once and for all!

Few things I have to add...

1) An 18 year old creating a drug is not so far fetched.... If a person is a genius... they are a genius... Despite popular belief, they DO exist. I mean, recently some 11 year old graduated college. Do they occur often? Of course not, but fact is that they DO exist. And I am sure you can find an 18 year old capable of creating a new drug.

2) Stories progress, even if the time line doesn't. This is especially true if it is progressing in terms of technology, especially when the technology is so intertwined into the culture that the story is representing. Japanese use cell phones for EVERYTHING. And I really mean everything. If I recall correctly you can link it to your credit card, use it to get on the train, pay for things, and link membership to it [in other words you swipe your phone to open gates and pay for vending machines]. This is besides the usual e-mail [Japan doesn't have SMS, just e-mail], internet, pictures, video, and telephone calls. So it would be natural for Gosho to include them. Especially when cell phones are so integrated into the society of which your target audience lives, as not including it would seem strange for the average reader.

3) People, we still have no proof that Akai is alive. Scar Akai is most certainly NOT Akai. I've explained this before, Akai is left handed, Scar Akai is RIGHT handed. Unless his sudden case of amnesia somehow created a dual personality in which his right hand is dominant, there is no possible way for Scar Akai to be Akai. Gosho wouldn't just switch hands out of no where.

4) Having "Spoilers" in the title of the topic is redundant in the Story Discussion (MANGA SPOILERS) forum. If you are here... you obviously realize that there are spoilers contained within. If you enter into this forum and get spoiled, you can't complain because it was clearly labeled as having spoilers. Therefore, unless you are linking to a large image, the need for spoiler tags are unnecessary here.

5) Fact: Batman originally appeared in Detective Comics as... surprise... a DETECTIVE. So naturally Batman would be a bit more realistic than other superhero comics. Batman is first and foremost a detective, then he is a hero. Which is why he is my all time favorite hero. I think the Nostalgia Critic [AKA Doug Walker] described it best when he said (approximate quotation used) "The Dark Knight proves that superheroes are the mythology of our time, for this new incarnation to be so different, but be so true to the original spirit of Batman."

6) Graphic Novels, whether they be from America or Japan, are generally completely unrealistic. Lest you include the few realistic ones... OH and of course Suzumiya Haruhi, because we all know some crazy girl with an obsession with the supernatural holds the fate of the world.

I think that does it....

Unless he pulls a Black Cat, where he uses his off-hand as a handicap on purpose.  Meaning he's naturally right handed!

I just got a mental image of Inigo Montoya. "Why are you smiling?" "Because I know something you don't know." "And what is that?" "I am not left-handed. Ha!" *swordfighting* "Ah, but I am not left-handed either! HA! *more swordfighting*

Kid: You killed my father. Prepare to die.

And here I was thinking you meant the scenes that appear if I recall correctly in the 2nd opening in a row:

1) the Detective Boys all wear the glasses of Conan before throwing them away
2) Conan himself throwing away his glasses in front of a processing plant
3) Ai has a facial expression of being finally relieved
4) Ran accepting Conan for who he really is

So unless it's not a mindf**k, then now matter how long DC will be Gosho had shown them the ending of DC... unless of course, Gainax acquired the rights and will attach their special ending because Neon Genesis Evangelion needs a new time slot
