What in this file makes her "a complete joke" exactly? That she is nice enough to furfill Ayumi's wish of getting some make-up put on? That she wants another fancy purse from Agasa?

And when was Kogoro ever not a joke? He was introduced as the comedic relief of the series, that's his role by default. Same for Takagi, he was always a more comedic character. Both have had their serious moments, but that's not their roles in general. If you'd want to complain about a serious character only being used for jokes, complain about Sato who only appears for relationship jokes atm.

He could easily just have reacted to the word "akai" (the color red) said by Sonoko since he knew that Akai was still alive and no one else was supposed to know. He only officially came to the conclusion that they are related in the previous case before this when Masumi blurted out loud that her brother is FBI agent Akai Shuuichi.

Both Conan and Haibara got to appreciate their life a bit more after being with the DB tbh. Conan was a smartass towards them for like 100 chapters

So, what was she supposed to do? Turn Ayumi down and make her cry? I know, I know, people want Haibara to act like a cold, sarcastic scientist all the time, but come on, she would never turn Ayumi down in a situation like that. Is she a joke because of that? I don't think so. And that she likes and therefore wants a fancy purse is an established part of her personality, dating as far back as the case around Sato's father (Ep. 205-206), so I don't know why Haibara "has become" a total joke just now, when this has been like this since 16 years.

So... here are some possible options people suggested about what Conan's line of thought was supposedly leading to.

1) He was going to think MG resembles Haibara
2) He was going to think she resembles Akai
3) He was going to think she resembles this one woman he more or less remembers in the back of his head but isn't sure from where (as in, he might have seen Masumi's mother in his yet to be told childhood encounter with Masumi).
4) He was going to think that instead of MG resembling Sera, it's Sera who resembles MG

I personally find the fourth one unlikely because this is a fairly sudden huge jump for Conan to be thinking in that direction. Third one is a bit far-fetched and solely relies on Conan conveniently remembering something (which isn't really an argument because convenient memory has been utilized before in Conan). First option... I just wishfully hope it's not going to happen.

her taste for fashion and beauty has always been shown,so I don't see why it would ruin her character...and she put make up during OVA 11.
In this file she's acting like a big sister with Ayumi(and she is irritated by Conan who said she's too young for that--->so this is typical Ai if you ask me),another thing that has been part of her personality for a long time....so maybe you have disliked her since the begining,in this case I can't say anything to convince you.
You may not like it but this is part of her personality(the Higo fangirling was more OOC than the make up scene IMO).
As much as I like the cold,sarcastic Ai,I think acting more like a normal girl is part of her character development.
