That's a sad joke. Nonetheless though, I would like if Haibara would end up with Mitsu.

Spoiler:
Well, the last time he was referenced in the first file of a case (918), he appeared at the end of it (920). Therefore, it stands to reason that he could.

I hope I'm not the only one who got REALLY annoyed by this episode.

Haibara's dead. (Not physically, but as in her characteristics.)
Spoiler:
Oh, please...

One file—ONE FILE, out of 925 of them—and she's "dead." Now that's overreaction.

This is hilarious, and she's interacting with Kogoro—KOGORO—that's never happened.

If you compare Shiho/Ai from her intro to the end of the Vermouth arc (Files 176–434/Episodes 129–345) to her after she rejected the witness protection program (Files 435–437/Episodes 346–347), she's different. She no longer contemplates suicide, and is far less abrasive than she used to be. She's actually gotten to live a normal life, and it's changed her. She'd never be able to act like she is, now, in the BO—no chance. That threat may be hanging over her, even after her death has been faked, but it really has lessened... she can relax more, now, than she ever could in the past.

If you're referring to this as the culmination of a buildup since she rejected the witness protection program, and claim that she's been put to the side, effectively, then you're right that Gosho hasn't let her do much since then. But with the series still having a long way to being over, jumping the gun like you are and making this extreme assertion... that's unwise. Heck, the point of this story, for her, may be her not being such a fangirl, when it comes to Ryusuke. Even if it isn't , though, I'm telling you... just wait.

If we could fly out of that window hand in hand, hover over this great city, gently remove the roofs, and and peep in at the queer things which are going on, the strange coincidences, the plannings, the cross-purposes, the wonderful chains of events, working through generations, and leading to the most outre results, it would make all fiction with its conventionalities and foreseen conclusions most stale and unprofitable.”

Spoiler:
I don't understand the complaints. I think Ai having this little thing going on with Higo despite her pessimistic and depressive nature adds to the character's depth and complexity. While I do regret the lack of witty dark-humour based remarks by Ai in recent years, I wouldn't like it either if she were to be only that.

Spoiler:
Isn't this one of the few developments that Haibara's character has had in... a decade? I would think Haibara fans would be ecstatic to hear she's no longer just a static placeholder in the very occasional plot file, even if just temporarily. This seems like a good move on Gosho's part.

Spoiler:
everyone seems to be all "OMG HAIBARA"

Isn't anyone happy for Yoko? (assuming that this isn't all some kind of misunderstanding). She may be a bit of a minor character but doesn't this count as a bit of development for her as well? Remember what happened to her last "high school boy friend" ? Its good to see her moving on and being able to at least have a relationship while being a full time idol, tv show host, and movie star.
I hope that I can find someway to contribute to the community even if it's just random crack theories and looking things up for people who can't find the information they need.

Well let's be honest here, not many people actually care about Yoko. It is development for her but it's about as relevant as, if not less than, Naeko and Chiba or Shiratori and Kobayashi...

Not a big fan of the "who cares" comments, in general, but, to each their own—the Kogoro and Shiho/Ai interactions are great to see.

I agree with jimmy, though—this, if not a misunderstanding, is certainly a step up for her from where we left her in her introduction (Files 6-9/Episode 3; Bloody Idol Case/An Idol's Locked Room Murder Case).

The interaction between Kogoro and Ai is very funny and it's nice to see her having a role in a case (it's been awhile).

Spoiler:
Some questions I got from this episode:

1. Since when did Haibara become an ardent fangirl of Higo? And I mean 'ardent fangirl' by being a normal teenager girl who is overly obsessed with whatever her fav celebrity does. I believe she would rather react "oh, you guys are dating. Gl and hf."

2. Since when was she scared of 'scary-looking' people? If Kuroda is not RUM, there is simply no reason why she should hide behind Conan.

3. Since when did she shout at the others/grab their collar only because she didn't feel good? That's selfish, while she was NOT NOT NOT shouting at the others/whatsoever for trivial reasons before. (Yes, this phenomenon happened for several years, which I'm not happy with cuz this proves her inclination to become less caring about the others.)

And all of these could be easily questioned even when you only saw File 925, without needing to see the conclusion.

Ugh.

Spoiler:
1. Kite-flying case where she was listening to the song that Higo listens to when warming up. She refused to reveal that fact and Conan tried to obsessively figure it out. Funnily enough the song happened to be a song written by Yoko and Higo reveals that they went to the same high school.

2. Conan had just finished telling her that Kuroda is aware of the fact that he is the one behind Sleeping-Kogoro. Figuring that out is what leads people (like Eisuke) to figuring out that Conan = Shinichi. This makes him dangerous as well as scary.

3. This is hardly her becoming "less caring about others" and more about her becoming a "normal girl" (or at least Gosho's understanding of it). In this particular instance she is supposed to be a bit more like Kogoro in her feelings for Higo. Teaming up with Kogoro to try to end a Yoko / Higo relationship is for comedic effect to try to get us to understand that Haibara is after all just a normal girl who never really got a childhood, until now.
