That photo raises quite a few questions.

-Is the little girl a fourth Akai sibling? Or...
-Is it just a younger Sera/one of the brothers with their mother, who supposedly has a great resemblance to her? (If it is, the family resemblance is officially ridiculous. They could be TWINS.) If that's somehow the case, why is the child's hair light instead of black? Did Sera (or Akai or Sibling #2) dye it later?
-Why is she in bed in the photo? Is she sick? Also, why isn't she smiling?
-Is there a fourth Akai child?
-That child has light hair, but Akai and Masumi don't. so couldn't it be Amuro...?

I'm thinking that the child in the photo is important to the case where Shinichi and Ran met her. I'm just spitballing here, but both Sera AND Brother #2 refer to Conan as the "Wizard", suggesting they'd met him in a case of some sort. Since both Conan AND Ran feel like they know her, and we haven't seen her before in the series (...have we?), this case probably happened before the events of DC. However, I'm not sure if Sera and her brother are using the term "Wizard" to refer to Conan as Conan, or Conan as Shinichi.

Whatever the case (no pun intended), this little girl is likely connected to that very case. I also think the circumstances that particular photo was taken under may have some importance to the case. As I mentioned in my questions, she's in bed. Assuming she's related to Sera somehow (and that the older girl isn't actually just the Akai siblings' mother), most likely there would be other photographs of the two of them together. Even if they were taken before Sera got her cell phone, she could probably just email herself the photos. So why did she choose that particular photograph?

Conan has brought up the possibility the girl in the photo is not Sera. Usually when Conan drops hints like that it's a clear indication to follow the line of though he is suggesting. I think the photo = Akai's mom, kid Akai Shuuichi theory is looking more likely.

The only problem is who is the other person in Sera's apartment behind the door Sera didn't let Conan open, and who presumably opened the door where Conan dropped his bag? It could be the mystery kid... or Sera's mom? They look quite short, so it could definitely be the kid from the picture.

@Chekov: I think it is the child. There is no way that the person in the room could be an adult. If you have a closer look at the picture, you will see that her hand comes from the bottom to the doorhandle (don't know how to say it). It's the same way Conan opens the door (or any other child). No adult would open a door like this

Not unless they were exceedingly short. But the kind of shortness in question would be something along the lines of dwarfism instead of the usual height for a short adult. Curious detail that they open the door like that and it just adds fuel to the fire of questions.

Anyway, the questions I can come up with are thus far:
1. Who is the kid?
2. Why are they being hidden and only vaguely hinted at by Sera to Conan?
3. Are they the one hidden in Sera's room and the one who had access to Conan's bag due to the murder or is that just a red herring?
4. Presuming they're someone under the influence of APTX, which is the general theory at the current time, what will happen with Conan's belongings? Doesn't he have his Shinichi cell phone with him all the time? [I'm guessing that something similar with how Akai found out about Conan = Kudou happening with Sera and the mystery person, but that's just hearsay at the present time.]
5. Presuming they aren't under the influence of APTX, why would Sera bother showing a more distant relative like that to Conan and being so cryptic? And why would they be implied to grab Conan's belongings? [Just being trolls?]

Perhaps she and her brother call Conan that as a nickname? Sure, she thinks they don't actually exist. But maybe they call Conan a wizard as a nickname? I mean, as something that people think couldn't have possibly existed, but who knows? Maybe they actually DO exist. :3
