Re: Discussion Thread: Detective Conan 958-96X
Aside from the first two chapters, most of the very early chapters were 16 pages, so in the end it's just been a return to what was standard when the manga began.

File 1 was 35 pages and File 2 was 27 pages.Wakarimashita wrote:Aside from the first two chapters, most of the very early chapters were 16 pages, so in the end it's just been a return to what was standard when the manga began.
Since I'm going through every single DC volume, I can say that, where I am now (Volume 8, File 78), a majority of the files were actually longer than 16 pages. I'll give an update about when they stopped doing 18-page files for DC, when I get there.
“Life is infinitely stranger than anything which the mind of man could invent. We would not dare to conceive the things which are really mere commonplaces of existence. If we could fly out of that window hand in hand, hover over this great city, gently remove the roofs, and and peep in at the queer things which are going on, the strange coincidences, the plannings, the cross-purposes, the wonderful chains of events, working through generations, and leading to the most outre results, it would make all fiction with its conventionalities and foreseen conclusions most stale and unprofitable.”

I forgot the specific volume, but IIRC the 18 page files stopped somewhere in the mid-50s.

Probably Shonen Sunday took another work, limiting Aoyama's one.
Anyway is there someone who thought about a reason for the hairpin presence? I looked for the "nue"'s call and it is similar to the sound made by the clash of plastic dices. Maybe the answer is linked to the suspects'items.

Hence why I said "aside from the first two chapters". I only looked at the first volume and 6 out of the 7 remaining chapters were 16 pages. It's possible it changed later on but I also said "very early chapters".DCUniverseAficionado wrote:File 1 was 35 pages and File 2 was 27 pages.Wakarimashita wrote:Aside from the first two chapters, most of the very early chapters were 16 pages, so in the end it's just been a return to what was standard when the manga began.

That’s an interesting suggestion. Since nue is the feminine form of nu ‘nude’, the reference must be a feminine form as well. Then, the feminine cachette ‘hiding place’ might be suitable in that context.Shihœiji wrote:If Charles Abel actually is French, then he could mean "nuè", "denuded", indicating that somebody (the historian) took the gold from the place he understood it was hidden and maybe the historian himself attempted to kill him with the slide, maybe he let the miner die, with the purpose to keep the gold.
On the other hand, thanks to his pronunciation of Charles Abel, I’m not so sure if Aoyama would handle such a code correctly. Perhaps it’s just the Japanese monster, after all.

"nue" is also the obsolete term for "nuage" (cloud) but I doubt that's relevant...Valentin wrote:That’s an interesting suggestion. Thanks Spimer for the translation ^^
-------
There's this part that's still unclear to me..
(If so I wonder why the letter wasn't sent to them in the first place. .)
Edit:
Or the letter explained to him that they couldn't afford bringing Shinichi and Kogoro so they asked him to come instead, but still insisted on bringing Ran with him..

So I assume the letter he got originally demanded Kogoro or/and Shinichi and Ran?Spimer wrote:Spoiler:

I think it means they were the first choice (maybe for the usual confirmed-by-detective alibi 'cause the murderer planned a complicated method to deceive), so the letter explained that to Heiji; but I guess it's more relevant for the case.
K11chi, why are bottle and cynder clues so important in your opinion? The bottle can be a coca-cola reference, but what do you think the stick means? Possibly I didn't understand something because I'm Italian.
Thanks, Valentin. I tought about "nuè" (masculine), but if the miner gave the paper when he was alive, he could put the accent.

most likely the bottle and stick with a cloth on it have something to do with the trick (that's also probably why k11chi said that they're fishy)Shihœiji wrote: K11chi, why are bottle and cynder clues so important in your opinion? Re: Discussion Thread: Detective Conan 958-96X
Apparently the mayor is the first one to get a letter with a list of people to be invited, and that list originally suggested a famous detective, either Shinichi or Kogoro ..but the mayor opted for Heiji due to the reasons said above, and his close relation with the 2 detectives, and maybe demanded Ran for the same reason?Shihœiji wrote:I think it means they were the first choice (maybe for the usual confirmed-by-detective alibi 'cause the murderer planned a complicated method to deceive), so the letter explained that to Heiji; but I guess it's more relevant for the case.
Waiting for the file for more details. ..it looks promising so far.

So is there any plot related thing in this case? I haven't read any file after 957, and I didn't read the discussion thread.
