You are aware that Tottori is a city in Japan. Therefore, it is not that Gosho chose to say that the boss's location is Tottori because he is making parallels to Toto Rina. It might be an accident.
And sure, Italy is frequently cited in relation to its cuisine, which is not surprising given that Chinese noodles and Indian curries also have a very well-known term.
Breaking down the theory and tackling just some parts of it seperately from the other ones will sure make it look unsubstantiated.
Indeed, the theory is far fatched judging on how it was based on sparse evidents from the manga, real life events and interviews.
For me, it should be taken as a whole so that it would make sense. I believe that Gosho was influenced by the Italian gangs movies, like many men from the 90s, and it shows in the manga and in the interviews as I pointed out in the theory.
That Capane/Capone reference around chapter 37 would've been enough for me to assume that the Boss should somehow share a similarity with an Italian mobster, and, for a mangaka who loves to play with words, this Tottori would sound cool for him.
His death date was the cherry on top. No other theory would come close to explaining the why of 1008.
By far, it's the Greatest Theory in DC, because it's Boss-related.
My theory on the APTX and Itakura's software must be the most enjoyable one, because it expands on many mysteries.
My theory on Rumi must be the second wackiest theory after the "Yoko is BO", and that's only because it has a 99% chance of hiting the spotto.

Well, the theories and speculations are all good you guys, but don't forget a very important element starting from the RUM arc, which is tea drinking! More specifically it's "BLACK" tea! And many mentions of the Akai's having a British background and having the habit of drinking tea the British way. Considering that even a MI6 like Mary have to escape from England to Japan to seek safety...(seriously, where else could be more safe for MI6 agents if not their home country England? Unless the B.O. have an even more powerful influence in Britain??) Therefore, I strongly suspect the Boss of B.O. to have more or less some British background if even Mary and Akai Tsutomo (both MI6 agents) had to flee to Japan from England.

While anything Boss related are JUST speculations at this point, I'd still like to bring forward the possibility that the BOss of the B.O. may be both a bad and good person or else RUMI would probably not have anything positive to say about a raven like character she had in mind when talking to Sumiko during the field trip. ::)

As another one of my favorite anime is Black Butler and one of the more memorable episode being the Book of Circus, I think the ending scenes of that
anime somehow echos with a quote you mentioned in another discussion folder: “Whether we remain the ash or become the Phoenix, is up to us.” – Ming-Dao Deng, not the lacquer tray artist.
