To be fair, twenty years is a long time for a story like this. He has to come up with a new murder trick every three chapters, as well as a slew of new characters almost every time. I'm kind of awed he's been able to come up with so many different tricks and methods, especially since he originally intended DC to be MUCH shorter. Also, mangaka have a really demanding schedule, and he's been doing one story for twenty years. I think he deserves a little break.AICHAN wrote:yeah that's sad...It's supposed to be DC 20th anniversary, and Gosho takes more breaks than usual, instead of giving us more DC good cases.Wakarimashita wrote:We'll be at less than or maybe just around 30 Conan chapters published this year I think.![]()
I agree, we could use more Gin. However, based on what I've seen I think Gosho saves Gin and Vodka for showdowns with a particularly large effect on the plot (the only one real exception I can recall was a run-in on a train way earlier in the manga), kind of like a trump card, so I don't think they'll be appearing anytime soon. Since Amuro and Kir are both double-agents, Vermouth won't harm Conan, and Chianti and Korn are just snipers called in by others and probably wouldn't investigate anything outside of which guns work best, I think Gosho introduced Rum as a necessity so Conan can have a new lead.MrDetective wrote:I'm getting tired of Gosho adding more and more plots when he hasn't yet resolved dozens of them
Is the Rum character really necessary? If Gosho wanted to add another adversary for Conan, why not use Gin more? It's like he's been left out these last few years even though he's at the origin of the series! (turning Shinichi into Conan and all)
I'm currently neutral on this, though. There's not enough information on Rum to determine if his addition is necessary to the plot, though Conan DOES need something to investigate outside of showdowns (as well as add a bit of paranoia). While this COULD turn out to be interesting and overall necessary, there's also the risk that this could stretch out too long with no developments like the Bourbon arc. :/
