Today I have rewatched the episode in which Haibara is introduced, and I was thinking about one thing she said.
She said to Conan that if the organization will continue to use the drug to kill people, sooner or later someone else will shrunk, and the organization will find its side effect.
It seems for now the organization doesn't know about its side effect. Could they stop using it after Sherry left? I know the time frame of Conan is not a whole year (which means that he must have another cases each single day....), but still it's quite weird that they still didn't found out. Especially that according to what Haibara said, one of the rats shrank too.
Also, it seems Sherry was the "boss" of the drug team. Since she left, do You think the work on it has stopped, or the organization found another scientist to continue working?

The future of the APTX
My dad’s a soldier blue I’ll be a soldier, too
When I grow older you will see me rescue you
I’ll teach you this old song so you can sing along
When I am dead and gone the day won’t be so long.

Re: The future of the APTX
Assuming I remember correctly (I forget things), wasn't the BO trying to kill Shiho when she ended up taking the APTX drug and becoming Haibara? Then Haibara explains to Conan that the lab has been destroyed? Its still possible that they had someone else lined up by that point to take over the drug research. The question is, where would they find someone as good as Shiho, who had been preparing her whole life to take over this research when she was sent to America? Someone that good would be difficult to find on short notice unless they prepared someone else in advance. Otherwise it would take them years to make another child prodigy on Shiho's level.
However with the fact that Vermouth does not age, its possible that the Boss may not age either, meaning that time may not even factor in when it comes to the completion of the drug. Whether or not they had someone lined up to take over when Shiho left, may not matter as long as they find someone at some point. Then they would have the time to groom another child prodigy at their leisure.

I hope that I can find someway to contribute to the community even if it's just random crack theories and looking things up for people who can't find the information they need.
