Hello, this is my first post of the year, and maybe is a little toooo late but  :-[… HAPPY NEW YEAR DETECTIVE CONAN FANS! ;D Okey, now back to business. 8)

I guess is a little bit disappointed that this case ended up in a very fast way ? –Ran kick bad guy-, but I think the reason is because what happened in episodes 554 and 555. ???

Is fun that, after this anime episodes, we see a manga file that have a similar scene that the 554 tv anime –Ran is stalkered by a bad guy how tasering her (she was tasered two times the last year >:(, poor girl :'()- but the result in anime and manga was very different.

In the anime, Ran was knock out enough time to by carry to a car, bound and gagged and locked up for the bad guy >:(, but in the manga she wake up a few minutes later to kick bad guy butt ;D.

My guess is that after Aoyama saw the episodes 554 and 555 he didn´t like to see Ran in a “Damsel in Distressâ€

my vision for the next BO case:

the FBI start to look for Scar akai , okiya spies on FBI
*James Black is on the phone with Okiya*
Okiya: Where are you now?
James Black: I'm sitting in my office.
Okiya: I doubt that.
James Black: Why would you doubt that?
Okiya: If you were in your office right now we'd be having this conversation face-to-face.
Isn't that scene from one of the Bourne movies? ;D

IMO, it wouldn't have worked out as well.  Ran learning that on her own.  IMO, for her to have gotten that on her own, she probably would've needed Shinichi to reassure her of that.  You know, maybe she does something out of the ordinary for her, and then Shinichi might say something sarcastic meaning that her old way was better, which would allow for her to realize that it is better for her to be herself.

Since Shinichi wasn't there, Gosho had to find another way for Ran to understand that.  Since Japan is into the fortune thing anyway, it's no surprise he went about it that way.
Aoyama could've had Ran beat the crap out of the guy, then find the real fortune. The way it happened folks will wonder whether she would really give up her life for something so silly. (I guess at least post-Shiragami Ran would rather die as the girl Shin'ichi likes than live with any possibility of losing him... and is that superstitious. I want the Ran who wasn't too gullible to clock someone who was threatening to curse her back...)
Hey, does this mean that you finally agree with me that it's Gosho erratic writing style of Ran that has her character acting like she has a personality disorder and nothing to do with Ran herself?

Though I haven't read this case.....or any case since Red Wall(want to watch them animated), by the discussions it sounds like Ran pulled another Shiragami/Spider Mansion stereotypical high school girl routine. I think Gosho might be torn in between having the Ran he wants and the Ran that is needed for this genre. I read(I think kirite posted this) that nice, calm, needy, and motherly girls are necessary in these type of mangas aimed at young males which would explain some of Ran's out of character things.

I second this. I want the The case of the blackmailing of a pro soccer player Ran(vol.7). Perfect balance. She's girl enough to get all red at the thought of Shinichi kissing someone, is cunning enough to bring out the claws to extract information from Shinichi's girlfriend, is strong enough to destroy everything in her path to get to Shinichi, is confident enough not to wallow in self-pity with the fact that Shinichi might be "one of those guys", and finally, she's naive enough to break into tears at her lack of control of what is going on. That's the Ran I remember being established in the early cases.
