I just have to do this before RL resumes, mostly for Genta (as he is your most loved DC character of all time *twitch, twitch*). As you already know, The Detective Boys (a.k.a. The Junior Detective League) is composed of 5 nosy kids (Conan Edogawa, Ai Haibara, Genta Kojima, Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya, and Ayumi Yoshida), but we're going to focus on the latter 3, as Conan and Ai has almost all the spotlight already.

Since this is an "Appreciation Thread", kindly direct your insults (on Genta) in a more suitable thread(--here or here, for instance). Compliment Mitsuhiko's intellect, Ayumi's cuteness, and Genta's... eating habit? Whatever. Just try to like them this one time.

Their only moments too. Honestly, its time for Genta to be cool. Ayumi and Mithsuhiko are likeable already.

Fantastic thread !

As a Mitsuhiko fan I really appreciate this thread!

The DB add to the richness of the series, but only a few DC fans seem to like them, which is sad. Anyway back to topic:

I really like Mitsuhiko, because he is smart, gentle, mature and honest. He is the most clearheaded of the 3 real kids and the most helpful. He already solved a 'case' (ep. 189).

Ayumi is the cute one and provides comedy and cute moments. She and Mitsuhiko are important to Conan and Ai as friends, camouflage (lol) and helpers.

Genta however is useless, sadly. I think Aoyama could've used him way better, since you could take him out of the series and it wouldn't change anything.

Yeah I hope Aoyama raises their importance, not by increasing the quantity, but the quality of their cases. I really would love to see Mitsuhiko helping Conan in a BO related case somehow !

Love these kids <3

People (except Makoto who is already awesome and maybe Shiratori) should take notes from this kid on how to be a gentleman. Genta too to a lesser extent. He's more of a /offer service of beating the crap out of bad (not scary) people for you

The Case of the Unsmashable Snowman was only solved because Genta decided to smash his face against the ground for no reason.

Similar experience. It was on the menu at a Chinese/Japanese restaurant so I decided to see what the fuss was about. Unagi is indeed quite good.

They are great in terms of case creation and plot.

Yeah, I actually like a lot of the manga-based DB cases, they're just a lot of fun. Also, 2 of my favorite cases of the past few years were DB ones (Haunted Warehouse and The Secret The Diary Plays). More if you count the Takagi and Sato cases. The only time I was annoyed by them around the 400s episodes where there were too many instances of just putting them in random murder mystery cases where they add nothing. And when they somehow have had less personality than usual (Mitsuhiko especially).

I have a crush on Genta, and I'm not even kidding. Kidding! But he is likable enough. We have tons of similarities. He just might be my soul-mate, y'know! XD We both are eating machines, for starters, and are always responsible for leaving remarks that lower the intelligence level of the whole DC lot. (Did I just insult myself? Oh, how I love this day!) He is one of the few, along with our favorite inspector, Yamamura Keiji, who set the story in a more realistic environment.

'Nough of that. I especially like the manga chapters re: the haunted warehouse. The DB has shown exemplary acting and memory skills, for carrying out Heiji's deduction. They were found out in the end, but they're still an awesome bunch (Genta, including).

I'm glad a lot of forumers value DB as much as I do. (:

And *insert case* was only solved because Ran talked about some random stuff that made Conan went 'omg how dafuq.*. I can list two off my head. The Red Wall and the Unfortune Three-some case.

Anyways, the DB are what makes the show... not a complete mystery I guess. I have to admit that they brought a lot to the table then what we credit for. Of all the onsen murder cases, I can only remember one (Kogoro's Reunion) that wasn't with DB. Camping too.

But I think the flat tire gag is kind of overused.

I must admit, your logic is sound, Chekov. I never thought of it this way. (Goes to see Festival dolls dyed in the setting sun, which he skipped.)

I love the DB mostly cuz they appear in Metropolitian Detective Love Stories, which is some of the best DC out there.
