Shinichi's official height is 1.74m, even I have reservations about if that's the case. OK, have anyone even written about Conan's official height?

1.74m doesn't seem unlikely.  That'd be 5ft 8in, approximately.  That sounds about normal for a high school student.  Not sure about Conan's though.  I'd guess about 3ft 4in?

Hm... someone asked the same during an interview with Gosho and he showed his height which according to the witnesses was 1.30 m, but that's too high for a 7-year-old-looking-17-year-old-boy, so I guess either Gosho or the witnesses made a mistake.

Btw. when the anime was 10 year old there was a question about Conan's height and it was answered and translated. I remember that we have discussed it somewhere. But I forgot where. ._."

Found the interview you mentioned.  He says Conan is "4 head sizes" now, whereas he was originally drawn at "3 head sizes".  Not sure exactly what a "head size" is, as all I can find regarding it is measuring around the head, not top to bottom. 

However, the average height for a 7 year old is 48 inches, which is 4 feet.  Seems rather tall compared to how he's drawn, in my opinion.

In all the Conan pics I've seen in a quick google search he's about 3.5 Conan heads high. Maybe he's recently grown, I'm not sure.

Heh, in the manga, he's just short enough to be able to look up Ran's miniskirts. It sure seems her hemline has been drawn higher as he's been drawn taller, though that might be coincidence since he's never shown intentionally peeking.

The NY case did cause some problems on Shinichi's height. Ran was 1.6m at the time, and compared to Ran Shinichi didn't look as if he's close to 1.74m.

Yeah he seems a little taller when he's drawn next to Shinichi in promo shots and stuff too.

A head size is how a mangaka determines how tall a character is. Like if you drew three of Conan's heads vertically next to a full picture of Conan, then they should be about the same height. This is a pretty standard way of determining a character's height and also helps with drawing the proportions of a character in an appealing way (you don't want the body to be too long or something). In addition this way of measuring does not mean anything in regards to feet, centimeters, etc.

As for Conan's height, he seems really short, even compared to the detective boys (cept, ayumi)

That much isn't surprising since Mitsohiko is tall for his age and Genta is just massive.  (Ai is also at Ayumi's height.)

It's all in the official fan books and conan encyclopedia. he is the same height as Gosho Aoyama meaning 174cm. I know that the drawing doesnt seem like it but that's what the books say.

Conan is short for his age but it's not really surprising. There are many kids that stay small for a good amount of their childhood to the point they and their family thinking they are going to stay short until puberty rolls around and they start shooting up 5 inches every night and end up fairly tall. Same for kids that are really tall during their childhood and believe they are going to be 6ft 10in only to find out when puberty rolls around they only just grow a few more inches and don't even break 6ft.

As for Shinichi, he seems to have the typical height for a Japanese Male his age.

tat reminds me of the children in their first yr of my secondary school, they r absolutely tiny, if we compare it with conan's height i swear they will be the same (they r suppose to be 11 yrs old too).

Ok, according to a quick Google, the average head size of a 5yr old is from 46cm to 54cm. I know, that's 2 years younger than Conan, but it was the oldest I could find (apparently doctors stop measurng your head at 5 ).

Ok, so, Conan is approx 3 heads tall (3 1/3 in the example screenshot here)



So, it would follow that Conan would be between 150cm and 170cm, approximately; which can't be right because that's about 4.5-5 ft. So, that means Conan must have an unusually small head
