Best Case Deduction? (Spoiler alert)

Post by rdetagle »

I know this has been posted before on other forums, but it's still a pretty cool question...

What do you think is the best/toughest deduction or solving of a case?

Mine would have to be the Torakura (Dracula's castle) case, with the projector reeling in the film to lock the door.

Second would be in the Cursed Mask Laughs Coldly, the pulling together of all the masks with a rubber string with a knife on the end.

I just love locked-room murder cases...  ;D

I agree on the Cursed Mask case... though it was a tv original, it was one of the few that I actually liked. I knew who the murder was, but I couldn't put my finger on the trick... kinda sad.. though it can happen..

-

I love locked room cases too.. they've always got the best tricks.

I thought 'flying locked room! shinichi's first case' was funny though. the way shinichi asked ran was too funny... "Ne, you're in highschool now, right? Then..." "'I see?!' What do you see?" XD

*ahem* but I thought the Dracula one was easy for me.. I mean what else could the murderer have used to lock the room?

Also, when I first started watching Conan, the Diplomat case (when we first encounter Heiji) pretty much had me stumped. That was like 2 1/2 years ago and I wasn't as into mystery (and stupider) so...

Though those were the only cases I can think of.. meaning I might change my mind later...

one case that stumped me was the villa murder case(episode 35). I was waaaay off on the murderer. After re-watching that case i realized how dumb i was.

So was I.

But another case that through me way off. Was one of the cases from the beggining of the series, The Moonlight Sonata Murder Case, who would've thought the guy changed his sex to a female?

wohooo remembering ep 35 i just realize how cruel this case was. nothing for kids, he had parts of the dead body under his shirt! waahhrgh >.<

the moonlight sonata case was really really good. i first read it in the manga and it really stired me up. one of the best non-plot-related cases. (actually my favourite is special 304)

I have to admit, very sadly in most cases, that the episode that stumped me the most was 345. I can never get the case anyway, but I was left with jaw hanging when I realized the disguises, more surprised than I've been. But one thing I totally noticed in the case part was "okamioto-san"(props to me for spelling if correct because i've never seen/spoken the word, only heard from Goro  ;D) drinking the "Silver Bullet".. I totally knew that was a no-no.. the score is now

Me - 1
Aoyama - 508

I'll note "Cursed Masks" for the coolest murder.. completely innovative.. and "Mountain Villa" was very creative.

yeah, I totally forgot the Moonlight Sonata Case... it's really sad, though - i mean, in the end, Conan couldn't save him. Hmm but I still think the end was rather befitting for that case. It had me thoroughly stumped.  :)

Heh I would've been amazed by the Mountain Villa case, as well. Because that was really something.. I mean the 'fat guy' pretense... but it was kinda weird because my friends and I were being lame and trying to think of murder mysteries the day before and we actually came up with "how 'bout the guy hides the chopped up head under his shirt" err.. .something like that. And well it was creepy... huh. The likeliness of such a thing happening... :D

that is a favorite of mine.  If I had to pick ONE not listed here, it would be the gathering of the magicians case where the body was put out in the snow.

Most of the locked room murder cases are tough to predict...

yeah, he had been with them the whole time. That made it better the whole time. I wasn't keen enough on Japanese to figure out that he used a pun (I think something along that line) for his name but I thought it was a great ending.

For me, the best case "whodunit" case is probably the Ski Lodge Case. I also really liked Suspicious Curry and the Memento case that just aired. The best "howcatchem" is Elevator Murder Case in Desperate Revival.

I can't stand the ones where they give it away(e.g. The final case in "Desperate Revival".. although they do it well even with the audience knowing who the criminal is.. it just takes all the fun out of it for me. That and, that particular case was a little too silly/unbelievable..
