Complete randomness about Case Closed website

Well, i was looking at the Case Closed website (apparently for no reason) and I saw this picture:

Image

As you can tell, this is a picture of Ai, and if you have been to the Case Closed website, you would have seen it (if not, click here).

Now what I've been wondering is this: this picture has been on the website for years (earliest I would date is 2 years, back before I even knew about a concept known as fansubbing  :'(), but  but back then, no Case Closed fan (not counting Detective Conan fans, because there is a difference  :D) that even knew who she was (She was first introduced in the US as Anita Hailey in May '07). So why is it that Funimation decided to post this pic of this anonymous character, long before her introduction?

Also, if nobody cares, there is a Conan flash game to play, for anyone who wants a quick moment to bust out in a fit of rage  :P

I think it is because they thought she was going to be introduced long before she actually was, I remember there was a website (of a TV Channel) in my country where they use to broadcast DC and they also had pictures of Haibara although nobody knew who she was, and most of them probably never knew since they never went passed episode 129, the people at the station probably were also thinking she would be introduced eventually although she never was  ;D

She was actually revealed in Case Closed back in 2005, but not on the anime website.  She first appeared on the Case Closed TCG site, as one of the characters who would pop up and give a random blurb about the game.

I think it's that they expected to not take 5-6 years to get to her intro episodes.

The DC opening does that as well.  For instance: Haibara was in the opening starting with #124, yet she does not actually appear in any episode until #129.  Maybe this is a way for the animators to tease someone new, but personally I rather see a character in an epsiode first.

I think Okiya Subaru is also in the new opening although he didn't apper after 4 of 5 episodes after that opening started.  ;D

Those are spoiler openings - showing characters in advance. You see them not that frequently though.

BTW Juan, can you give me a link of that Conan flash game? Pleeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaase ;)

Well, I understand the point that people are making about the openings revealing characters that have not been introduced, but that's around the time when their intros are close by. In the case of Ai and the Case Closed website, that pic was up around the time when the latest episode anyone watched was around 70 episodes away from her intro (AS cancelled Case Closed around 2004 with episode 48/49, and according to GinRei, the pic was up in 2005). I had suspected that they hoped that Conan's popularity in the US would fund it's being dubbed to something passed ep 129, but if those facts are true, then they put up the pic after AS pulled it off-air
(Shame on them working at AS  >:() , when Funimation or TMS or whatever realized that the US was not smart enough to appreciate the wonders of Detective Conan. I guess the pic hasn't been removed due to Funimation laziness, but as of now I'm stumped.

BTW, on a side note:

Here is the link here: Conan Game.
Just scroll through and click on play now, then it'll open in a new window. Just hope you don't see it as a form of degradation to the Conan name and a reason to attack Funimation headquarters  :-X

I really wouldn't know since I never watched or read the dub/official translation for DC.  (I've just heard rants ^^;)
