What is/are your favorite volume(s) of the DC manga?

Post by Shakura »

I didn't see a topic like this around, so I thought I'd make one.  Given that DC is a long series with 61+ volumes, I figured that folks would have some favorite volumes, the kinds that are memorable and/or you'd want to read them more than once.  It could either be just one favorite case or a couple of cases, doesn't matter really.

For me, my favorite volumes are....

#5:  This volume was my favorite since I got interested in the series.  I remember carrying the English volume around with me the most out of all of them. :P  The cases of the Bandaged Man and the Karaoke Murder really intrigued me.

#17: About the same as #12, but the cases seemed more fun in a way.  The Robbery-Hospital Case was a short and sweet little chapter and the number/letter riddle in the Clock Mansion had a nice set-up.

#23: 20-Year Murder Case = entertaining from beginning to end.  Sort of liked the Titanic reference, as corny as it was. ;)

#29: I really nice batch of cases, IMO.  Shedded a little limelight on Megure (always wondered why he never took off that hat), a busjack case with Akai's appearance, the Dog case, and the K3 case...all four were well-done case, nicely lined up in a row.

#36: No police-detective story in DC comes close to the Matsuda arc.  'Twas pure gold.  Reached out to the dangerous part of being in the police force.

#40: Had some nice character-oriented stories for Sato/Takagi and Agasa.  I found the first love case to be very adorable and refreshing from a typical murder case.

#42: Very plot-oriented volume.  Elena's tapes to Ai and the Black Org. and the Costume Party cover-up..."wow" is all I have to say.  Everything fit into place and is pretty much a must-have type volume.

#48: I swear, Ran in the panda suit was one of the funniest panels in the entire book.  It also contained the beginnings of another BO case, so that was pretty nice.

#55:  I liked the Suspect Genta case as well as teh flashback case for Shinichi.  It was nice seeing how the characters looked ten years before and seeing a connection between Toichi Kuroba and Yusaku.  Like fathers, like sons.  ::)

#59: It was a shame about Akai, but the Sengoku case was enlightening after such a depressing loss of a great character.

..Phew.  Well, all that aside.  Oughta stop my babbling and let everyone else list their favorite volumes.
