What made you start watching DC?

Post by Rellik »

So what made you? Coincidentially caught sight of the manga and liked it? Friend reccomendation? etc.?

Mine would be because i watched it as a child and enjoyed it very much, but i forgot all about it until last year where i was thinking what anime i should watch next and thought 'Why not my childhood favourite?'  :P

A more detailed answer can be found here, but if not there: It was great. The series had all the classic elements of a mystery--certain ones of which still haven't been captured as well these days as they were in the Golden Age. Each episode was contained so well, even the two parters. I appreciated that pacing a lot, as you never thought, "Wow, I could just skip to the next episode and have this re-capped for me" (trust me, I've thought that with other mystery shows >.>). I think that feasibility is really one of the strongest points of Conan.

I say CIA, there more for the people, while the FBI is more for the goverment.
FBI "Would you rather be a dog of the military." Quote FMA
CIA "Or a Hero of Justice." Yaiba Qoute from DC

Then again, i am no expert.

I was flipping channels and I noticed it and watched an episode. It was good, the problem was that it was part I of a a 2 part episode and I had to go to bed early the next night. I kept on missing the second part of that episode (it was the one with the murders one a cruise), so I finally went online to look for it, first I went to the Adult Swim forums, there I Knightus refer I Kaze somwhere, I found it and started torrenting away. Then I found Kaizou after reading some post about how it sucked.

"The energies of our system will decay; the glory of the sun will be dimmed, and the earth, tideless and inert, will no longer tolerate the race which has for a moment disturbed its solitude. Man will go down into the pit, and all his thoughts will perish. The uneasy consciousness, which in this obscure corner has for a brief space broken the contented silence of the universe, will be at rest. Matter will know itself no longer. 'Imperishable monuments' and 'immortal deeds,' death itself, and love stronger than death, will be as though they had never been."

you do realise joining FBI or CIA is not as cool as anime show them as? But it's impressive u got accepted. I would go for FBI? of course this is just opinion from a teenager.

Case Closed (as it's known in the U.S.) was being shown occasionally on [as]. That's where most American's started watching... and the dubbing doesn't seem too horrible until you actually watch the Japanese-thousand-times-better version.

well...i first saw Conan on a german tv channel, and the irony of it is that, at that time i wasn;t even really aware of anime in a whole concept. everything i saw back then was just cool, funny and entertaining :) a couple of years later i began looking for it on the web and found it, thank GOD  ;D

it was in 2004 when it air in adult swing, i stayed awake till 4am to see it and it was awesome. It was the episode of the museum, one of the first episodes and got addicted to it and a couple of years later a friend of mine had a portable hard drive with all the episodes, ovas and movies shown at that time and i buy it, how lucky i didn't have to download the series from the beginning :D

DC has been aired in my country for the last 7 years. I started watching it on the TV 5 or 6 years ago, but since the story was so dense that I couldn't keep up with it (some days I just couldn't watch it). Everything changed when I got my PC with Internet on it: then I started to feel curious about the series, and finally I ended up here.

And thank goodness, because it's been like 4 or 5 months since we could see the newest episode (422) and they have been reruning the old ones again, but I kept up with the anime and manga thanks to you, guys.

I'm from Chile, but I've lived in the US for the last 8 years, I watched Conan there, but It wasn't one of the best for me, One day a couple of years ago after I had rewatched all me favorites animes I thought to myself "whatever happened to that Conan show" I looked it up on youtube and to my surprise they had quite a few episodes, the first one I watched (mind you the last time I had seen Conan was in 2000 and the episode was the one when Hattori appears for the 2nd time and finds out about Shinichi being Conan) 443-444, the Shell gathering, of course the anime didn't look like I remembered, the colors were brigther and didn't have that old classic anime look anymore, but what got me the most what that brown haired girl (Haibara) I thought " who the heck is She?" I went to wikipedia and discovered that Conan was still airing in Japan, I started watching Conan all over again and making a list of episodes that I had watched and put it on excel so I knew that I had watched them, until one day youtube took all episodes from their website somebody posted to go to GUBA.com and upload there, so there I went and kept watching, all the B.O thing drove me crazy, I loved it!!!! I had no idea the show had gone so far, until they took the episodes from GUBA too, I went to Veoh.com and that's when I remember thinking I should look for KaizouFansubs since It appeared in a lot of the subs I had watched and that's how I realized there was Anime-Conan, Hari no Ito, Neg and more than one group doing the show, of course now it's all one big group.

That's my story of how I started watching and loving Conan and ended up here with all of you guys at DCTP, thank you for your hard work!! ^_^
