Which AOs did you feel could have been manga-based?

Post by Brekclub85 »

One of the most popular AOs seems to be the Cursed Mask case, and I remember reading posts that a lot of people were surprised that one wasn't based off the books and saying it was a good enough mystery to be from the magna.

Like the topic title says, what AOs do you think had enough plot that they could've worked in the magna or what AOs were you surprised to find out they were AOs?

For me:
The Cursed Mask case, obviously.

An early Ao, the train trick case. (I remember back in 2005, when I was 12 and didn't know that I could look up DC episodes and I didn't know that there were many more episodes than the ones Funi had dubbed, that this was one of the episodes I was looking forward to the mystery, because the mystery seemed hard to solve from the summary. The English dub even includes a reference to a magna-based case.)

The Truth of the Exploding Car case, because of the focus it had on Kogoro and a rather sad ending.

What about you guys?

It's m-a-n-g-a . ;)

Maybe episode 30, with the lawyer? I thought that was quite a good AO idea. The good old times...

140 ~ SOS! Messages from Ayumi
175 ~ The Man Who Was Killed Four Times
201-202 ~ The Tenth Passenger
The Courtroom Confrontation Series (I was suprised the anime would do something like that, so assumed it was manga based).
352-353 ~ The Fishing Tournament Tragedy (Part 1)
364-365  -  Synchronicity Case
405  -  The Man Who Called for an Ambulance
437  -  Ueto Aya and Shinichi - The Promise from 4 Years Ago  (Really suprised it wasn't manga based).
478  -  Real 30 Minutes  (Though I guess the catch is kinda hard to do in print eh?)
540-541  -  The Day Mouri Kogoro Ceased Being a Detective

And of course there's the episode before Ai appeared that they had to make because they changed the episode which her sister appeared in from the manga.

There was an episode shortly before the Night Baron case where there were with one of Kogoro's friends from his class reunion (The episode's English dub title was Moonless Murder) and I was surprised it wasn't manga-based because it had a rather complex trick.

If I remember correctly, it also had Conan use Takagi for a rather unsafe crime reenactment, which Aoyama seemed to turn into a running gag in the manga for a while.

Ran had mentioned about Shinichi in these cases
26 Pet Dog John Murder Case
30 Computer Murder Case
107-108 Mogura Star Man Murder Case
149 The Amusement Park Bungee Jumping Case
434 The Famous Dog Coeur's Achievement

Ran was kidnapped in this case
294-295 Smash of Love and Determination

Ayumi's love rival in this case
126-127 The Traveling Drama Murder Case
409-410 The Simultaneous Stage Advance and Kidnapping
452 The Phantom of the Theatre

Travelling cases are great too
519-520 The Meiji Restoration Mystery Tour
554-555 The Stork Mystery Tour

Conan was kidnapped in these cases
321-322 The Vanished Kidnapper's Getaway Car
526 The Malice Hidden Behind the Masque

This AO episode is great for manga too
