Well i was wondering after reading the interview with Jd- how did you guys meet conan for the first time.

Im form Colombia and here Conan was aired by RCN on 1997 or 8, well i dont remeber because i was just 9 (im 18 years old) ... I loved the anime and I watched every single ep aired by RCN (128 actually (sorry haibara, i never met you in my chilhood) but they suddenly ended.
I'm a big fan of anime since i was a kid and i loved series like Sakura card captors and saint seiya and i love the original names of the characters... something that pissed me off watching conan because they (mexicans translators) made some 'little' changes on their names.

Shinichi Kudo = Bobby Jackson
Conan Edogawa = Conan Blassy (at least they keep Conan, they must)
Ran Mouri = Claudia Guzman
Kogoro Mouri = Carlos Guzman
Sonoko Suzuki = Sarita
Hiroshi Agasa = Profesor Cardillo
Megure = Inspector Vera
Genta, Auymi, Mitsuhiko = Beto, Jessica, Jorguito
Heiji Hattori = Alfredo or Carlos
Kaitou Kid = El ladron gato

After RCN decided to stop airing DC i miss the track on the anime, but i finally revive my passion for this great tantei on 2007 and nowadays i have more tahn 400 subbed ep, 11 movies (waiting for the 12th) and some ovas.

Thats my story with DC, what about yours?

Try watching the spanish version of it, 'amigo'. I'm from Spain and the five different dubs of Detective Conan (in everyone of the official languages) have kept the names, so far (the spanish, the catalan, the galician, the euskera and the balear ones).

De hecho los primeros que volvi a ver hace poco fueron unos que encontre (del 1 al 356) eran de un canal español "Canal 2 Andalucia" y pues conservaron los nombres, pero no llenaba el doblaje.

Oh man, you're totally wrong on that. We don't have a Carlos Guzman, at least.

I think Inspector Wilder is as stupid as Carlos Guzmán... xD Well, dubs can be really awful.

Well seriously, I started to watch the DC english dubs on adultswim. It was like 4 years ago, and my family had decided to go to NY from Florida to go sight-seeing, and back then, we had no cable whatsoever(my parents thought that TV would cause me to fail school ). So me and my brothers were watching TV in the hotel, when DC started. I was annoyed because it seemed stupid at first, but since there was nothing else on at 12 midnight, we decided to watch it. The episode was the Art Museum Murder Case, and it was so interesting that I wanted to see some more episodes, so every night, I rushed my parents after touring some place to go home to watch it. Then one week later, my family went back to Florida. I was still interested in DC, so I started to look it up online, and now, here I am.

Also, I think that the dub names are weird and creepy, but the discussion here is kinda moving in an offward tangent off topic.

RCN aired DC 10 years ago, but they stopped the dub on mexico and DC stopped abruptly at 128 because Japan thought the anime wont success on Latin America... they raise the price of the anime.
