Well... is not really the series... but i founded in the TMS Japan Web Page a trailer of Detective Conan completely in english dubbed and with the original names of the characters!!
Curious... if they used the real names for an english trailer... why they don't used the real names in the series too?
Yeah, they used this to market the series to potential overseas distributors ages ago. I always thought the way the guy said "schoolboy" was totally creepy.
Wait until the Spring, when DVD sales for the Viridian sets, Season Five, and the two newly released movies, have been finalized. Then we'll know what happens with Funi's dub of the show.

...Wait, what? If I understand what you mean, the title was changed since they wanted to avoid copyright issues with "Conan the Barbarian," (C) whoever it is, and names changed at the request of TMS to help it appeal to more people. Of course, that was then. Nowadays, there is not as great a need to do that.

Since I'm a dub supporter...
Maybe you guys should petition for the original names back. Dunno what that'll do, but hey, worth a shot, right?

Actually, I'm watching the Spanish one right now. Since the Latin American ones are the same ones used by FUNimation, it isn't all that different, other than obvious name changes to Spanish (once again, not much of a problem, except for Conan Blasi). Like another show I watched, the dub from Spain is much better. In fact, Conan's voice in that dub is different than what is used more recently. In my opinion, it is the closest to actually sounding like a first-grader and is actually creepy because of it. No name changes is nice. I wonder if it still airs, since I know it's quite a bit in progress. The source I'm using has it to about 273 is in Spanish dub, with the rest following it being subbed.
