When did Conan start carrying a cellphone?  I know he had been using the ear ring shaped ones up til volume 33, but I don't know when did he get his current one.. I must have missed it somehow.

Also, is Ran's cellphone a present from Shinichi? If so when did he give it to her and what's the episode

I thought he had the CP ever since. If not, I'd like to know, too.

In 337, Conan still had the earring cell, but I don't know if this is the last instance of him using it. In 329 Conan was still using the earring phone for Shinichi. By 334, Conan had a normal cell for Shinichi. Conan probably got his second cellphone after the events of chapters 479-484.

Shinichi gave Ran a cell I think, and I think the case has something to do with Sonoko, but I can't remember...

Ah, the cell phone.  I'm not sure when he started using it, but I can tell you that it is red in the anime and blue in the movies.    It's the amazing color changing cell phone!

It's odd, isn't it, that Conan has to borrow Agasa's phone in File 483 (with Ran figuring out "Shinichi's" phone lock code).  This means that:

1) The original soccer keystrap cell was actually SHINICHI's - but he was passing it off as CONAN's
2) CONAN's actual cell phone doesn't look like that (otherwise he wouldn't have had to borrow Agasa's)

In File 501 (with Jodie and Haibara in Agasa's car, trying to foil the DJ assassination plot), the two phones look identical, and he's telling them apart by the ringtone.  You can see that the one with the soccer strap is now CONAN's.

Doesn't he actually have two identical phones? One for "Shinichi" and one for "Conan?" I think they even have identical phone straps.

Because he gave his number to Ran so she could call, and Haibara was like, bad idea, and he was like, no, it's off all the time, no biggie, etc.

I can't remember when that happens... I know its 300-400ish but I don't remember specifically. Thats where I am now in the anime and manga.

He doesn't.  The one he used there was borrowed from Agasa.  He was saying (or thinking, can't remember which) it was lucky that Agasa had the same model phone as he did, so he could pull this trick off.

No, I thought he had 2 identical phones too.  I can't think of an anime episode but in Movie 12 (though I realize it's not canon) he does switch between phones.  I'm pretty sure he does it in the anime at least once though..
