Case Closed Given A Fair Shot?

Post by Vylash »

Just Wondering If You Guys Thought That Case Closed Was Given A Fair Shot, It Was Canceled Due To Low Ratings But What Kind Of Ratings Did They Expect At 5:30 AM? I Am Not A Fan Of The Dub But I Believe It Was Canceled Unfairly.

Actually, from what I was told, Case Closed did REALLY well in the 12-18 demographic, you know the demographic that makes up most of [adult swim]? however, AS tries to appeal to the 18-34 demographic, so the show was shuffled down the line-up.

I thought it was not a bad dub, sometimes. Kogoro's voice was probably the best, and Megure's voice wasn't bad either. The others were either OK or terrible. I mean, Inspector Yokomizo sounded like he was in the middle of making a bowel movement most of the time...

i think the Dub is pretty bad, especially the translation, it seems like all the culprits always say "thats just circumstantial evidence!"

I'm not very fond of "Rachel" either, I dislike her english VA, and "Hershel", made him damn german  >:(

Agasa's VA was just atrocious. Rachel's I liked a little bit at first, but then after a while I really started to dislike it.

I cringed throughout the first  two episodes (and didn't go any further than that). I couldn't get past Agasa's or Conan's voice. Plus, it threw me off that Conan "thought" in Shinichi's voice - as opposed to the original. Maybe they changed that in later episodes, but I couldn't bother with it.

Edited 'cause through =/= threw. I ken do graham mer reel gud.

It was never changed, actually. I thought it wasn't too bad, since it gave the voice of Shinichi more voice time, but I can see why it was awkward for some viewers. Most of my complaints come from little dumb things that Funimation did, including completely chopping out the ending segment of episode 118 for no reason at all...

Whoa, I'm posting a lot. My bad. o_O

the dub is not that bad, I do not think it was given a fair shot. I think ran has a great VA, and it needed a decent timeslot and the head of AS at the time not to hate it and be looking for a reason to can it.

What makes you think that's a bad translation? In all the subs I've ever seen, the culprit almost always mentions something about there not being evidence.

I actually prefer "Rachel" to Ran...sounds like less of an airhead. Oh snap!

There's no accounting for taste, of course.

Why shouldn't he think in his "real" voice as opposed to Conan's voice?

Not being exactly like the original doesn't make it a bad dub...and neither does someone used to the original version being thrown by the differances.

sorry imbeing lazy so I won't parse the quote lolz,

but regarding the reply to me,

But they say the same line everytime! THey could switch it up like they do it in the original version..like they actually say "circumstatial evidence" for verbatim.

:x I really don't like Takagi's voice in Case Closed.. After watching in Jap so much, the English bothers me.
But meh, I can deal with most of their voices.

That's just PART of why I thought it was a bad dub, and not even the majority of the reason why. I was so used to hearing Conan think in the Conan body's voice, that it just didn't seem right to me and threw me off. Key word here is "me". That's part of what makes it a bad dub to "me". I'm not speaking about anyone else on this forum, but myself.

Dub Conan acting like "cute Conan pretending to real be 6" Conan is great. Dub Conan acting like "serious Conan, like he normally sounds like when talking to DB, Agasa and Heiji" is not great. Which is what he always sounds like when he is thinking so...
