Anyone think Shinichi and Heiji's parents are somewhat bad p
Anyone else ever get the feeling that, although we know they're not bad people or abusing their kids, that Shinichi and Heiji's parents kind of suck at their jobs as parents?
In Yukiko and Yusaku's case, what they did in obvious, they moved to the US and left their son behind. I'm sure, like all of us here, that they knew Shinichi was capable of taking care of himself, but still... (Although it's implied in Volume 26 that they must have gave him a fair amount of money, as he had their credit card on his date with Ran.)
For Heiji, he mentally mentioned in Volume 28 (Of the Viz-released version only, his sentence goes unfinished on the online version here) that his own mother didn't visit him in the hospital after getting shot, and in Volume 32, that trick his father pulled on him to catch the culprit, while clever and it did end up working, was a little mean on his part.
What are your guys' thoughts on this?

ONLY THEM???
Kogoro isn't really better. Ran has to make the food on her own, she does the shoppings and all the stuff that Mouri as a parent suppose to do. Her mom is not better at all. She left her daughter with a bad excuse for a parent, what kind of a mother does that?

lol all the parent lack in parental guidance. The Detective Conan parents are very careless...they're into their own lives and don't pay attention to their kids. Like I notice the DBoys parents are really neglectful. They let their children run around town all day at their age....then again, Agasa is usually with them when going out of town. I guess it would cramp Shinichi's style if his parents showed up
That's why I see Shinichi is always annoyed LOL

Miwako's mother urges her to get married and tried to make her choose a husband.
Haibara's parents were scientists in an evil organization and due to that, Haibara was forced to grow inside the B.O.
DC doesn't have a lot of good parents.

Parents in DC are suppose to be that way I guess...else the children wouldn't be allow to have that much actions XDDDDD
*Aren't most parents are like that in Shounen? They'd live together but the young boy who's the hero in the story would venture off and goes to all kind of weird happenings?*

Oh wait, you are right. In a lot of anime/manga the hero is a high school student who lives on his own because his parents are either somewhere else or are never mentioned, and a lot of stuff happen.Khinkhun wrote: Parents in DC are suppose to be that way I guess...else the children wouldn't be allow to have that much actions XDDDDD

Actually, I think underage like 15 and up can live alone as long as the family can prove the the owner that the teenage tenant has their family support also (they're usually living in apartment and condos in Japan). I think... I'm not sure though XDDDD PLUS... despite hat the mangas usually portrayed, Japanese, like other Eastern culture, have generations living together... they don't just go and live independently when they reach an age like in the Western culture. *Unless they ran away from home, which is a totally different situation XDDD*Kor wrote:Oh wait, you are right. Shinichi parents probably let their son follow the Western Style, and Heji just has busy parents.... LOL but really, keep in mind though, Mangas are created for entertainment, and sometimes reality has to be altered a bit....(or more)
*like the sailor uniform... not every school has sailor uniform, from the school I have visited, dress shirt are more likely*

No, they use to run around town and out of the district even before Agasa got involved. The Detective boys can practically do anything they want as long as they call their parents. Even though it was an anime orignal, craziest one was when they went to the "bull mansion" place with a total stranger AND spent the night.soratothamax wrote: lol all the parent lack in parental guidance. that was a nice case, though a bit out of AO to my opinion. It had a Haibara moment (at the start) which was actually very fitting to her character and it amazed me that it actually happened in an AO instead of a manga case. Just because of that moment I thought it was a manga case at the start...TheBlind wrote:No, they use to run around town and out of the district even before Agasa got involved. Well...it's just like any other anime. You don't see the characters ask their parents if they can save the world from an evil mastermind...
Wait, the case from episode 4 when the DB were in trouble and they were almost killed. After seeing them in the newspaper, their parents didn't mind that their children were involved in such thing? Since Conan was a new friend of them you could assume that their parents will not allow their children to hang around Conan because he has a "bad" influence on the kids.
I just try to understand how this scenerio usually goes. like after the last case with the DB in the anime.
Ayumi: Mom, we just saw another dead body and helped to find out who the murderer was.
please tell me, what does a good parent suppose to say at this situation?

Well in my opinion you are right but i dont think that they are so bad parents.. But of course we know that they arent the best parents on the world..Okay they are famous but they really dont care about their childs..For example yusaku and yukiko..I mean they are famous and great in their job but to be a mother or father is something special..

Re: Anyone think Shinichi and Heiji's parents are somewhat b
Shoot, if you want some "realistic" looking parents watch Seinen or Josei anime. Shounen is always like a "super hero movie." Whenever the hero is of teen years, his parents are not important. The main character is annoyed by their parents and their parents often act childish and irresponsibly to make the hero seem more mature than the parents and make it seem like he's capable of taking care of himself.....it's really funny how Shinichi reacts to his own parents at times.
