I'm wondering if something big is in stored for her.
And if she's going to be an important character within the story's main plotline.


Still, I think it's unlikely, but hey, anything is possible on DC universe.

Sonoko went from annoying boy obssessed girl who is at times rude to AWESOME hilarious boyfriend obssessed girl who is at times rude. That's enough character development for me.

I can't see her having any part in the main plot though unless her family's corporation or Makoto end up being involved in the main plot.

Mabey who knows , as you said anything is possible in DC world , mabey someone related to her is the BO boss ?! or mabey she's gonna sacrifice her self for Ran , mabey at the final chapters ? i mean i hope something is there for her in the future , cause her charcter is too bland sometimes funny but still were craving for more than that .

I don't know if she'll get important but i really wouldn't like it, she's too annoying and to me she doesn't make any difference in the story, even if she die saving ran i wouldn't mind at all

she's pretty funny when she makes fun of conan, call him a "four eyed brat"....plus its hilllarrious when she laughs, with that

sort of evil queen laugh..

But I think the deduction queen won't really have a huge role

actually, what if Sonoko was the B.O. boss? that would be a pretty cool plot-twist, like the suzuki company was powering the BO with money.

i don't think she will have a big role in the main plot(BO/FBI arc...),her role seems to be minor in the main plot,but i would like to see more character development cause she's more than"a girl obssessed by handsome boys"!she hes a strong idea of what the true  friendship is(that's why she doesn't hesitate to help Ran with Shinichi ,like in vol 26) and even if she looks proud and frank(and  rude) most of the time ,she shows some shyness and sensitivity (especially with Makoto) ...
it's sad to see that gosho doesn't really worked on this character,since we know her from the begining of DC  ...(i know he can't develop all his characters,but he do that for the DB,why not for Sonoko?)

but it's true that her family is very rich and powerful,so it could make sense if they have contacts with BO...

I actually kind of agree...not that I think she is annoying, just she wouldn't become important even if she saved Ran's life.....

Character Development for Sonoko? It depends what you mean. She's already gotten plenty as she has been shown going from Sonoko to Sonoko with boyfriend. It sounds simple but truly, it's really complex  . Besides Sonoko doesn't need any additional character development, she only has a few roles to fill and she's the best at what she does.

Need the conversation to go to a place it can't because of false politeness? Drop in Sonoko
Need someone to be loud during a calm situation? Drop in Sonoko
Need someone to send Ran into Shinichi mode? Drop in Sonoko

Movie 7 is the perfect example, after fulfilling her role Sonoko(sending the Kazuha conversation to a place Ran wouldn't send it, being loud during the party, & sending Ran into Shinichi mode) actually disappeared with forty minutes left in the movie and only returned for ending(without any explanation as to where she disappeared to).

With that said, I'm a Sonoko fan, she dares to be different.

Aside from the boyfriend thing, she also became the "deduction queen" thanks to Conan.

which makes things more interesting because
1. The difference between Sonoko and Deduction Queen is as impressive as the difference between Kogoro and Sleeping Kogoro (I'm praising the voice actors, both of them did an amazing job)
2. Having a second person used by Conan to solve cases so that it isn't always Sleeping Kogoro. (Agasa is the third person)

maybe she'll find out conan's real identity, putting conan's secret unsafe from ran...

Omg I just LOVE Sonoko.  She's hillarious and adorable and just deliciously blunt/loud/obnoxious.  I can see her as being that one cool person at a boring rich party xD.

I'm guessing from "main" storyline that you mean the B.O. arc.  Personally I would hate for that to happen but then just for fun I'll explore that a bit:

Though the B.O.'s agenda is mainly unknown what I got from them during the B.O. versus FBI case is that they do take interest in Japan.  For example they wanted to assassinate the candidate with strong "morals" during a political election.  They could be doing for various reasons, the politician may reinforce various laws that will make things more troublesome for them, get in the way of their corrupt workings inside the government, or maybe Gin wants to makes his way to be president .

*Ahem* anyways what makes this relavent is that politics and the market have really close ties with each other.  Suzuki is one of the biggest players in the Japanese market and if the B.O. really is really working in the government as I think they are then they're bound to contact with each other directly or indirectly eventually.  Gin is seen smuggling guns to people, maybe the B.O. is starting to expand a illegal market up in Japan.  So even if the B.O.'s not in the government they have enough motive for taking over a powerful Japanese company to do their bidding in Japan. The "DC's rule of parental cool" probably means that Sonoko's parents are really upstanding and awesome people.  If/When the B.O. tries to influence them for power I'm sure conflict of interest will break out.  

As Sonoko's sister is interested in film and her fiance interested in art, the person most likely to succeed the companies looks to be Sonoko.  Maybe she can have a role trying to battle the corrupt B.O. members in her company or something : o.

Or maybe Sonoko will be kidnapped to force her parents to do what the BO wants (omg no plz D8).
