Could be. It doesn't actually mean that there are BO members in the Japanese goverment, rather they just don't go against the BO because they are scared, blackmailed or simply get money or support from the blacks. You can call that controll.

I just assumed it was a hit job from the guy's political opponent.

I can't specifically say, but in one of the FBI episodes, it was eluded that the B.O. has branched out to other countries but has its stronghold in Japan which is why the FBI went there. So they probably have some members in the government as they have some in the FBI. The thing to remember is what Pisco showed us, some members already have high positions in the real world and join for more money & more power than they already have.

maybe it's because, if that guy is in the govt, he will take a tougher stance on crimes and it might inhibit the BO's activities? oh mann I do wish I knew what the BO was all about! better not be just a random drug syndicate.

yeah i think so... every evil man in this world would like to have a control in the government because this is the high position that they can rule over our physical world..
