why doesn't conan get more recognition as a capable detectiv

Post by Akonyl »

I mean, even though people realize he's smart, and people are starting to realize that he seems to have a strange connection with cases ending up solved, people still always end up going "whoa conan, what are you doing snooping around the crime scene?! You can't touch that, you're a kid, go play with a ball somewhere you mischief maker!"

yet he has solved countless murder cases, even when not posing as kogoro
he's found numerous pieces of evidence that turn the case on its head
he has saved numerous people from false accusations (usually from kogoro)
he's stopped numerous crimes from being labeled as nothing more than an "accident"
he's successfully thwarted the master thief Kaitou Kid numerous times, without any help from police or otherwise
he's diffused a bomb, saved takagi's life and discovered the bomber with less than half of a clue, saving 12 million people

also related to that last point, even though takagi takes him around places, he still tells conan to stop messing with stuff even though he not only owes conan his life, but pretty much his entire relationship with Satou, as conan has solved basically every one of those cases, along with posing as takagi to save satou from shiratori.

I mean really, by now the police should see him show up at the scene and just be like "oh look, there's conan. Hey takagi, want to go get some coffee? By the time we get back, the suspect will probably have already confessed his crime and be ready to be arrested."

I lol'ed at the end.
I think it has happened less, though. ow people expect clues from him and when they are stumped they look over at him. But they do think he's a 7 year old. Kind of hard to trust him...

it's true that he's a 7 year old, but everyone knows there's something weird about him. I mean, especially takagi, who had the whole discussion with conan in the bombing special that went basically like
Spoiler:
conan: *says a bunch of crazily intelligent and awesome stuff*
takagi: "hey conan. Who... who are you?"
conan: "I'll tell you... on the other side.

if I had a kid tell me that while we were faced with probable death I'd probably crap my pants.
not to mention, this is anime. People seem okay with the fact that he has glasses that have a transparent tracking viewer, listening devices, an inflatable soccer ball belt and shoes which are capable of kicking a fire extinguisher through a (probably reinforced) windshield from halfway across a bus. If I lived in a world where such things were acceptable, I don't know how big a stretch it would be to trust that kid with crime scenes.

I could ask the same thing about how NORMAL a 7 year's old kid to be around crime scene, where he'd see dead body (sometimes, bloody).. Doesn't anyone care about child's right ?

Not to mention the Detective boys also consist of the kid's around his age..
And they've been around dead body, murder, and gore stuff more than all 7 year's old kid in the world combined

Conan has been on the front page of newspapers before due to his bouts with Kaito Kid. I'm sure there's at least one episode where the Shounen Tantei have been featured in the news. I also recall Youko-chan inviting the Detective Boys for an interview (but they turned that one down). I think Megure, Takagi, and Satou all recognize Conan, but since he is a kid, Megure (I think) is letting him have a childhood. I know that in episode 514, there was a scene where Megure and Takagi were specifically asking what "strange" thing Conan said. Plus, the chief of the arson division said that Conan "put the police to shame." Not to mention he saved the friggin' Tokyo tower from being ground zero. That's sufficient media recognition for any seven-year old.

Not to mention Takagi basically looks to him for instruction, Satou is happy to listen to him but tries stop telling him things to keep him out of trouble, the Detective Boys looks to Conan for deduction, Eisuke can tell right away that Conan is too smart (Nice to meet you Mouri-tantei!), Hakuba acknowledge Conan's observations imediately, Jodie will take Conan with her to dangerous missions involving snipers, Akai will work with Conan unquestioningly, the two officers from the "Furinkazan" case recgonized that Conan is observant and better then Mouri,etc...

I think he does get recgonition, just not from the people who will bust him xD.  So it's "elephants in the room" for them...Well it only has been a few months xD.  Give a few more months and I'm sure everyone will notice (he's not exactly the most subtle...but at least better then Heiji rofl).
Hey, I have an idea, let's have a THIS SUCKS / NO THIS SUCKS / NO YOU / NO YOU argument for a couple pages, that will really be great. - Ingmar

oh, I'm not doubting that, although that sort of makes me realize that my topic title may have been a little misleading.

I mean more of how, even though he gets all this media attention and everyone realizes that this kid is obviously amazing, he still suffers from being shooed away from crime scenes due to him being a kid, rather than them letting him investigate the crime scenes more freely. Though, I could see the whole wanting the kid to have a childhood thing too, instead of spending every day staring at dead people.

I would rather say he got far too recognition. Agasa's roadmap per Col.1 Ch. 2 asked him to stay low, and he certainly isn't.

Well, at the end of the day, he is still a kid (on the outside). I don't think that it's normal police procedure to consult with a seven-year old. Besides, Megure is mostly the one who does that. He sometimes even does that to Mouri. Some other police officers actually wanted to have Conan around. Besides, it's mostly Mouri who tells Conan to go away.

And for the police officers outside of Tokyo, I wouldn't assume that Conan would get recognized immediately because even Mouri sometimes doesn't even get recognized-- So that would be why Conan would get shooed away in outside-of-Tokyo crime scenes.

I wonder if Aoko would recognize Conan if they passed each other.

Prob'ly. If Conan slipped and his glasses fell off.
No amount of apologies will express how much I regret it.

They did pass eachother in an OVA.

But apparently she didn't notice a thing.

(Nor did Kaito... BAD observaration skills, eh. ;D)

Haha. LOL. Kaito might've pretended not to notice.... But I would think Aoko would be a big fan of Conan's since he's been the only one to foil Kaito Kid's plans.

It would be quite fun if Magic Kaito was integrated into DC. Heehee. Kaito could join Conan and Hattori. *wishful thinking*
