i think purpose of APTX4869 would be one of these three:


1. just to kill people by toxic
-everyone would know......



2. make dead person revive
once Vermouth said that they can both make people alive and die.
this might not seem realistic, but i think it can be possible,
just failed in making the pill into main purpose,
so just using it as toxic.........



3. making people younger
-Hiabara said to Conan that Conan has lots of connection to
BO's investigation without knowing,
which i thought that was interesting.
Also, Vermouth doesn't get older,
and she is getting 'love' from 'him' in BO.

Can't it be because Vermouth was the furst person to succeed on the purpose?

another purpose is to make the story remarkable and unique. i haven't heard any story about a drug that restores any one to its younger age. 

It is an interesting question.  I just figured it would be some type of undetected poison or something...especially since Shiho took it for the soul purpose of dying.

it was the latest (failed?) attempt from the BO to complete the research of Miyano Atsushi for...something immortality/longer life related that has been used by them because they clearly want immortality/longer life/making a real life Racoon City. However, since it has been a failure (or maybe because it hasn't been a failure, who knows?) it's used as a poison to kill people as it's not as messy as guns.

How that makes sense, I am still not sure.

I am starting to wonder something about it.

It could be just the slow plot thing ( 10 years and the characters have not aged a Day)

But is it possible for the lucky/unlucky ones (like Ai, Conan, and maybe Vermount ) that it stops the aging process. as in in 100 years
both Conan and Ai will still have 8 years old bodies?

The entire APTX formula really baffles me, though. If it was purely for poison, they wouldn't put telomerase in it. Personal opinion though, I don't think telomerase would keep you from dying if your cells started self destructing because if a cell doesn't exist anymore, how can you make it younger. Who knows. Any biology majors out there?

That is easy to answer... IT IS IMPOSSIBLE. You are talking fiction here. So of course there will be parts that make no sense, especially since this wasn't meant to be realistic in the beginning, it kinda evolved into that.

I just took that for granted. I wasn't really going to let something trivial get in the way of a perfectly awesome anime. I just wondered why he bothered to explain the contents of the toxin.

It seems that the APTX-4869's main purpose is more precise than just random immortality or being young forever. Probably it is something similiar, but not exactly the same.

No they're not, they're 17-18 respectively.  They LOOK somewhere under 10, since their new age is made up it can be anything they want.

That may have been its start purpose, but the stay young forever might be the drugs current purpose. It just another example of finding B while looking for A.
