Question about Kir

Here's something I don't really understand:
Somewhere in the "Clash of Red and Black" story arc Conan revealed to Kir how he was able to determine that she is an CIA agent.
One point is in my opinion completely understandable: When Conan tried to retrieve the bug from Kir's shoe in 425 she said "Thanks for saving me." even though she realized Conan had been lying and destroyed the BO's opportunity to kill their target. That made him think she actually works against the BO and hence for the good guys.
An other thing is Kir says "If we succeed we will stay unknown but our failure will be known to the world." which is a statement often used related to CIA operations, so Conan figured she might be CIA. Why would Kir say that? Apparently it made not only Conan but also Vermouth suspicious of Kir.
I would consider this a major mistake made by Kir. She can be lucky Gin didn't figure...
