How long does it take for a case to go to trial?

Post by Brekclub85 »

This question applies to one specific situation actually. As we all know, Dr. Araide is introduced in volume 24, and his stepmother murders his dad.

However, in volume 41, 17 books later, Conan mentions that case (Which he provided a suggestion for the culprit about how she committed the murder so Hikaru wouldn't get mentally scarred), still hasn't gone on trial yet!  Is it normal for real life cases in Japan to go on trial long after they occur, or was this part of Vermouth's deception? I forgot, honestly.

i think that trials on murder case normally last at least a month or so.. like you see in the episodes/files of Eri in court.. they have first trial, second trial and maybe more..

Remember that time is something that DC doesn't really follow to closely, I mean Conan has been six for 13 years for crying out loud!!  ;)

A case can easily take years before going to court in America, and I seriously doubt it's much better in Japan.

According to dialogue in Red vs Black (vol58.file2-pp10), there were only {a} few months between Akemi's death and the Org's attempt to recover Kir. {The} seasons and technology change to keep the setting contemporary with the real world, not to show the passage of time in the story. (The seasons in particular fit the time the chapter was first published in Shonen Sunday. Aoyama jokes about the delay between the magazine and tankobon publications spoiling the mood in his message for volume 24.)
