Conan Renaissance in Japan?

Don't think there's another topic, but anyone else noticing a Conan renaissance in Japan? It feels that Conan's popularity sort of went through a slump in the 00s but started surging again in the past couple years, especially at the box office. For example, Conan movie 21 was the highest grossing movie in Japan last year.

Anyone want to speculate what is causing this surge? To me, the most reasonable theory is some combination of nostalgia and the original Conan generation having kids and thus making the yearly Conan movies a tradition for new millennial families.

...I honestly just assumed Conan was always popular.

Like I do know ratings kinda went down when they tried to air less episodes a year for a couple of years but I just assumed it was slightly less popular for that time and little else.

Conan's definitely on a upward swing since the early 2010s for whatever reason, especially the movies:

Conan movies faced a slump in the late 2000s and have come roaring back recently, with each movie since 2013 setting new franchise records. The fact that the new movie's box office is being compared to Ghibli is insane.
