In the FBI, there are a lot of different careers such as intelligence analysts, special agents, and criminal profilers. Which position would Akai be in?

It's unknown. He, Jodie and Camel are simply referred as "FBI Investigators" with James Black being their superior but James' rank / role is unspecified as well.
